About Dark Attraction & Funhouse Enthusiasts (DAFE)
The Dark Attraction & Funhouse Enthusiasts, or DAFE (pronounced “daffy”), is a not-for-profit, volunteer-run club for fans of darkrides and funhouses. Rick and Sue Davis of Vienna, Ohio, and Joel Styer of Reading, Pennsylvania, founded it on October 31, 2000. Its scope covers funhouses, walk-through haunted houses, darkrides, mirror mazes, Old Mill tunnel of love rides, mystery shacks, haunted swings, escape rooms and other illusion attractions at amusement parks, carnivals, fairs and stand-alone sites.
Members get group events with exclusive ride time, lights on and lights out walkthroughs, member discounts and the quarterly magazine Dark Times, along with access to past issues through the Daffy Klub website. The club’s Tennessee Adventure trip took members to Dollywood and Gatlinburg, and it is taking suggestions for a 2027 destination. Membership includes families and corporate members, among them manufacturers and parks, and DAFE belongs to IAAPA.
DAFE exhibited at TransWorld’s Halloween & Attractions Show 2026 at Booth 1709. Membership applications go by mail to its post office box in Vienna, Ohio, or online through the DAFE store.
