The Haunted Attraction Association (HAA) has announced its 2025 Top Haunts, recognizing 67 attractions across the United States and beyond. This year marks a significant expansion of the program, introducing Gold and Silver tiers to recognize excellence at various stages of growth within the industry.
Expanded Recognition for 2025
Since its inception, the Top Haunts program has been the benchmark for professionalism and safety in the haunted attraction industry. Traditionally, only attractions with a decade or more of operation and at least 10,000 annual guests were eligible.
For 2025, HAA broadened the program to include:
-
Iconic (Platinum): 10+ years in operation and 10,000+ annual guests
-
Gold: 5+ years in operation and 5,000+ annual guests
-
Silver: 2+ years in operation and 3,000+ annual guests
This expansion allows newer and mid-sized attractions to be recognized for meeting the same high standards of safety, education, and industry leadership as their more established peers.
What It Takes to Be a Top Haunt
Every certified Top Haunt—regardless of tier—must meet a set of rigorous requirements that go beyond entertainment value. These include:
-
Active HAA membership and operation as a commercial haunted attraction
-
Proof of at least $1 million in general liability insurance
-
Completion of the C.H.A.O.S. safety program
-
Registration and inspection by state and local authorities
-
Staff training with employee handbooks and documented emergency programs
-
A commitment to reinvestment, professional conduct, and raising industry standards
Background checks for staff are also strongly recommended.
Honoring 67 Top Haunts
This year’s 67 certified Top Haunts include 53 Iconic (Platinum), 7 Gold, and 7 Silver. These attractions represent the best of the industry—setting benchmarks for safe operations, immersive experiences, and community leadership.
