April 13th – 15th, 2023 come visit the University of Florida’s first ever on-campus haunted house, Crimson Carnival, presented by “Swamp Haunters” (Gainsville, FL). Swamp Haunters is the first and only team at the University of Florida focused on designing and building a haunted house. Their project brings together students from different disciplines to design and construct a themed haunted house completely from scratch, giving members valuable hand-on experience. These students develop their teamwork, professional communicative, and leadership abilities, whilst gaining the unique opportunity to network in the themed entertainment industry. Crimson Carnival is a 1,200 square foot haunted house that will feature seven rooms, live actors, animatronics, special effects, and more. “Our goal as a team is to take the level of detail you’d see at other regional haunts and deliver that on a smaller-scale package in Gainesville,” said Josh Kesten, one of the design team captains at Swamp Haunters. “We plan on using this ‘Halfway-to-Halloween’ event to work out our operational kinks before our fall event.” Tickets are on sale now for $5 each.
It’s time for Half-Way to Halloween at Reign of Terror Haunted House (Thousand Oaks, CA). The haunt will open for two nights – Friday, April 28th & Saturday, April 29th – to celebrate the halfway point to their favorite time of year. See a ton of big changes since 2022, including: huge new creature characters to encounter where you least expect; renovated themes and twisted walk-through paths that keep you guessing; premiering massive special effects to leave you breathless; and a new darkly disturbing Forest of Fear. Tickets are on sale now starting at $35 for Regular Admission and $60 for Immediate Access Tickets. Onsite tickets will be cash-only.
Vampires, trolls, mermaids, and monsters of all descriptions await you in the Mythical Monster Museum of Raptus and Krane at the Scarborough Renaissance Fest (Waxahachie, TX) April 8th – May 29th. This walk through attraction is filled with all manner of monsters, from tiny fairies to mighty dragons. See the equipment and weapons used to slay and capture these creatures and behold the preserved remains of these monsters- as well as several beasts that have been captured “alive” (or – in some cases – undead). Admission to the Mythical Monster Museum is $5 and all guests must have valid festival admission to attend. Festival tickets are on sale now starting at $32 for an Adult One-Day ticket or $150 for an Adult Season Pass.
