About Fright Times
Fright Times, a printed haunted house and Halloween magazine, was created in 1996 by John Denley of Boneyard Productions, and issue #1 went to print in spring of 1997. The original run continued through issue #14 in the winter of 2001, and its first issues were written by haunters who gathered after the show floor closed at the TransWorld Halloween trade show in 1995 and 1996.
Denley later turned Fright Times over to Rob Kocher of the National Haunters Convention and The Village of Darkness. The editor in chief listed on the site is Robert K Hightower, who runs The Village of Darkness and co-owns the National Haunters Convention & Halloween Show in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania.
The site says the magazine is published annually for the National Haunters Convention & Halloween Show, with bonus issues as content allows. It sells issues #15 through #20, including Dick Van Dyke’s Halloween House and Cthulhu Cometh, plus back issues on haunts such as Knott’s Scary Farm, Netherworld and Castle Blood. Its distribution plan sends copies to haunted house shows and conventions, costume, horror and gaming conventions, haunted houses and horror clubs, and it takes article submissions and advertising.
