Theme Parks

Haunted Hotel dark ride will debut at Funtown Splashtown USA (Saco, Maine) in 2023. The park has teamed up with Sally Dark Rides to create the Whispering Pines Hotel, an interactive ride-through attraction. In the attraction, riders enter the Whispering Pines Hotel, which a witch has cursed. Riders helm “curse eradicators” and work alongside a professional ghost hunter to free the hotel of the witch’s spell. The last of the ride’s 14 rooms will require riders to work together in what appears to be another dimension to fight the evil witch and save the hotel guests she has cursed. “Blending a magical, spooky theme with our company’s interactive technology and unmatched theming allows us to deliver a one-of-a-kind experience that is both cursed and family-friendly,” said Chairman and CEO of Sally Dark Rides John Wood. “This classic family ride, complete with black-light style décor and theming, is found in theme parks worldwide and is a proven favorite with families due to its ageless appeal and repeatability. For this special attraction, we have created an original storyline that will only be found at Funtown.” Funtown Splashtown USA is open from May – August. More information on dates, hours, and available attractions can be found on their official website

U.S. Haunts & Events

Brokepam Productions, led by Cheyenne Wright, Jason Ervin, and Courtney Bingham, has started a Kickstarter Campaign to fund “The Haunting of Bloody Mary”, a haunted house adventure. The group hopes to raise $50,000 to fund a haunt for the 2023 Halloween season. The Kickstarter page describes the project as “a haunted attraction where lore and legends collide. The story is based upon the female legend Bloody Mary. Folklore claims that if you light a candle in a dimly lit room and chant “Bloody Mary” 3x into a mirror, you will see a woman dripping with blood in the reflection… Brave souls will travel through different portals revealing the fate of those that dared to look into the mirror and summon Bloody Mary.” The Kickstarter campaign runs through December 14th at 8:59 p.m. PST. As of November 21st the project had already received over $3,000 towards its goal.

The holiday horror Jingle Hells returns to Awaken Haunted Attraction December 9th – 10th. Join the Awaken team for a night of wicked elves, creepy decorations, tragic endings, and dark holiday secrets. Awaken will have their entire haunt dripping with Christmas “ho ho hos” and “ah ah ahs” – but that’s not all. With Krampus wandering about the haunt, navigating a snow-filled town, Christmas music only the hard of hearing will enjoy, and a somewhat adequate Santa, who tends to be a bit grumpy, smelling and rude, your imagination will run wild for this fun, exciting and terror filled special Winter time event. Tickets are on sale now starting at $25 for General Admission.

Due to overwhelming demand for last year’s sold-out holiday event, Fear Columbus (Columbus, OH) has tripled the number of days it will offer this year’s Krampus: A Haunted Christmas Experience. The event will run two weekends – December 9th – 11th and December 16th – 18th – and will feature two-holiday haunts, “The Tale of Krampus” and “Aftermath: Frozen”. Tickets will go on sale in the coming days and will only be available online in advance. Sign up to the event’s newsletter to receive early access to tickets before they go on sale to the general public.

Zombie Joe’s Underground Theatre Group continues its 30th anniversary season with a special one-weekend engagement of “Turkeys! The Musical”. This smash-hit musical-comedy from Ian Michaels centers on a village of turkeys in the week leading up to Thanksgiving. From true love to true terror… can these singing turkeys handle the truth about Thanksgiving? “Turkeys the Musical” is directed by Gina Rizzo Bishop and Ian Michaels and Produced by Zombie Joe. The show takes place in North Hollywood, California November 25th – 27th at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are available now for $20 ($25 at the door).

Join the co-executive producers of the cult classic holiday horror movie Silent Night, Deadly Night for a special screening and panel at The Frida Cinema in Santa Ana, California on Saturday, December 10th at 7:30 p.m. After the panel, you can find that perfect gift for a special someone on your list with officially licensed merchandise. Scheduled to appear on the panel are Silent Night, Deadly Night co-executive producers Scott Schneid and Dennis Whitehead. Joining them will be “Silent Night, Deadly Night: The Game” creator, Anthony Masi. All special guests will be available after the panel to autograph any purchased merchandise at no additional cost. “Silent Night, Deadly Night” was originally released in 1984 and sparked a lot of controversies. The film outperformed “A Nightmare on Elm Street” at the box office during their same opening weekend. Still, it was pulled from cinemas after one week due to its controversial promotional material and graphic violence. Since then, viewing it during the holiday season has become a tradition for many horror movie fans. Tickets are $12 for the screening & panel. Individuals who would also like to reserve a copy of the game, can purchase a bundle ticket for $57.
