The Egg Harbor Township celebration returns after a hiatus, adding a new digital registration system for early store entry.

Egg Harbor Township, NJ — Spirit Halloween announced that its Flagship Grand Opening Celebration will return after a one-year hiatus on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the retailer’s flagship store in Harbor Square. The event is free and open to the public.

The return of the flagship celebration comes as Spirit Halloween prepares for its largest season ever, planning to open a record-setting 1,575 pop-up stores across the U.S. and Canada and hiring 52,000 workers. It also continues the Halloween retail expansion pattern that has defined the summer. Both Bath & Body Works and Michaels have expanded their Halloween collections for 2026.

Physical experiences are increasingly how retailers extend the merchandise transaction into a memory guests bring home. A free, on-site opening event with games, food, and swag bags is Spirit doing that same math.

What’s happening

Spirit Halloween’s flagship store is located at 6725 Black Horse Pike in Harbor Square, Egg Harbor Township, NJ. The event runs from 8:30 a.m. to noon outdoors, with the store itself opening after a ribbon-cutting at 10 a.m. and remaining open until 8 p.m. The retailer describes the celebration as offering “games, freebies, food and treats, and more.”

The full day-of schedule:

  • 7:00 a.m.: Registered attendee check-in begins at the Registration Check-In Tent.
  • 8:00 a.m.: General admission check-in begins.
  • 8:30 a.m.: Outdoor festivities begin with games, prizes, entertainment, and food and beverages from local vendors.
  • 10:00 a.m.: Ribbon-cutting ceremony and store opens.
  • 12:00 p.m.: Outdoor festivities end.
  • 8:00 p.m.: Store closes.

The event runs rain or shine, indoors and outdoors. On-site restrooms and hydration stations are available from 7 a.m.

New for 2026: digital registration

Spirit Halloween is introducing a Digital Registration System that lets fans reserve a spot in line to be among the first inside the store. Registration is free, and general admission remains available on-site, but the retailer recommends registering for anyone who wants a numbered lanyard.

Registration opens Wednesday, July 8 at 10 p.m. EDT (7 p.m. PDT) via Eventbrite. Each person can reserve up to five tickets. Registration closes once 2,000 tickets are claimed. Registered fans are assigned a line-group time based on their registration, and lanyards are handed out on-site after ticket scanning. Attempts to register multiple times using different email addresses will result in the forfeiture of all submissions for that attendee, per the retailer.

General admission lanyards start at number 2,001 and are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 8 a.m. Attendees without a lanyard can enter the store once all lanyard holders have entered.

Spirit Halloween is also giving away swag bags on-site: 250 randomly awarded to registered attendees and an additional 30 to general attendees.

Camping is not permitted

Spirit Halloween’s event page is explicit that no camping, overnight parking, or overnight guests will be permitted at Harbor Square before or after the event, including campers, RVs, and vans. The earliest attendees can arrive on-site is 7 a.m. EDT on August 1. Police and event security will actively monitor the site, surrounding areas, and the adjacent bike path before and during the event.

The retailer recommends nearby hotels for overnight stays, including the Hampton Inn Egg Harbor Township Atlantic City, Residence Inn by Marriott Egg Harbor Township, and Homewood Suites by Hilton Egg Harbor Township.
