The Capcom-licensed takeover runs July 9 through August 30 at AREA15 in Las Vegas, with meet-and-greets, puzzles, and a T-Virus-themed dining zone.
Las Vegas, NV — Universal Destinations & Experiences officially announced on July 7 that Universal Horror Unleashed’s summer horror experience, a Resident Evil takeover inspired by Capcom’s global phenomenon, will run July 9 through August 30, 2026 at AREA15 in Las Vegas. The takeover is included with General Admission.
We first covered the takeover when it soft-launched on June 25 via unofficial on-the-ground reporting and photography. That coverage remains the best look at what guests actually experience on-site, including the Umbrella Corporation Cafe menu and character interactions. This piece captures the official press-release framing that Universal has now released, including the six-zone structure and the official close date.
The takeover is the summer marquee event Universal Horror Unleashed’s leadership previewed at the Monsterpalooza panel in May but declined to name at the time.
The six zones
Universal’s press release divides the takeover into six zones set inside the venue’s common areas.
Zone 1: Arrival. Guests are greeted with a battered “Welcome to Raccoon City” sign as emergency lights flash and police scramble to contain the T-Virus outbreak released by the Umbrella Corporation.
Zone 2: Mission. Guests arrive at the Raccoon City Police Department and take on a series of interactive puzzles, racing against the clock.
Zone 3: Infection. Guests enter a quarantined section of the city where the last remaining citizens have transformed into flesh-eating zombies. Ada Wong makes an appearance.

Zone 4: Combat. Guests come face to face with iconic characters from the franchise, including Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine, and Leon S. Kennedy, and witness battles between the heroes, zombies, and villains. After the dust settles, guests can take photos and interact with the characters.

Zone 5: Escape. Guests enter the final stretch of the journey and must survive the final mission.
Zone 6: Aftermath. Survivors enter Umbrella Corporation and can purchase limited-time themed food and cocktails inspired by the T-Virus and its mutations. Universal warns that guests should stay on the lookout, “as they never know who may emerge around the corner.”

The venue’s four core haunted houses (Universal Monsters, Blumhouse’s The Exorcist: Believer, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Scarecrow: The Reaping) continue running during the takeover window.
