Carlsbad, CA — LEGOLAND California’s Brick-or-Treat returns for the 2026 Halloween season on 12 select dates from September 19 through November 1. The event is included with regular park admission on event dates and remains a daytime-into-evening overlay rather than a separately ticketed after-hours party. Elite Annual Pass holders get in for free on all event dates. Silver, Gold, and Platinum passholders need a discounted add-on Brick-or-Treat ticket.

What is Brick-or-Treat?

Brick-or-Treat is LEGOLAND California’s family-friendly Halloween season overlay. The park describes the event as “not-too-scary fun for all ages,” with no haunted mazes, no scare actors, and no true scare zones. The programming is built around LEGO monster characters, trick-or-treat trails, live shows, LEGO Halloween decor, and a handful of Halloween-themed attraction overlays. The event is aimed at the LEGOLAND core age range of 2 to 12.

The event is a daytime overlay layered on top of regular park operations. Guests are not gated the way an after-hours party like Oogie Boogie Bash is at Disney California Adventure. Everyone who is at the park on an event date experiences Brick-or-Treat, and passholders and general-admission visitors mix throughout the day.

What is new for 2026

Almost nothing at the California resort. The 2026 California event carries over from 2025 essentially unchanged, with the same 12-date weekend cadence, the same lineup of shows and meet-and-greets, and the same limited-time attractions. The resort’s new-for-2026 addition is LEGO Galaxy, a new space-themed land with the Galacticoaster indoor family coaster, but that opened as part of standard park operations, not as a Halloween-specific addition.

Dates and admission

2026 event dates (12 total): September 19 and 26. October 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25, and 31. November 1.

Admission works as follows:

  • Regular admission tickets dated for an event day include Brick-or-Treat automatically.
  • LEGOLAND Vacations tickets (hotel + park bundles) that fall on event dates include the event.
  • Elite Annual Pass includes free admission to every Brick-or-Treat date.
  • Silver, Gold, and Platinum Annual Pass holders must purchase a discounted passholder Brick-or-Treat ticket for admission. That ticket grants all-day admission starting at opening.

Shows and character meet-and-greets

Brick-or-Treat 2026 confirmed lineup includes:

  • Monster Meet & Greet Hub: Meet LEGO Monster Rocker, Tiger Woman, Mummy, and Green Witch in one location.
  • Zombie Cheer Crew at the Fun Town Stage, Cheer tryouts with the Zombie Cheerleader and her crew.
  • Spider Lady Meet & Greet: Character meet-and-greet.
  • The Monster Rock Off: A dance-and-sing-along with the LEGO Monsters of Rock playing rock covers.
  • Mummy Meet & Greet: Character meet-and-greet.
  • Once Upon a Brick: The Tale of the Wolf Guy: A short character story show.
  • Skeleton Brass Band: Roving Halloween brass performance.
  • Monster Scientist Meet & Greet: Character encounter in Monster Scientist’s lab.
  • Beastly Brick Beatz: DJ-driven dance party with the LEGO monsters.

Meet-and-greet times are published in the LEGOLAND California mobile app’s Brick-or-Treat tab and in the paper event guide distributed at Guest Services.

V.I.M. Costume Contest

The V.I.M. (Very Important Monster) Costume Party runs on event dates for kids age 12 and under. Registration is at the Info Booth in MINILAND USA starting at park open, and closes 5 to 10 minutes before each contest. Categories include Best Monster, Best Homemade, and Best Group, with multiple winners per hour. Prizes have historically included free LEGOLAND tickets and hotel stays.

Trick-or-treating

Candy stations are spread throughout the park and marked with LEGO Skeleton Guy or listed in the event guide. Trails open at 3 p.m. on event dates. Trick-or-treating is sponsored by HARIBO.

Bags: LEGOLAND provides a paper trick-or-treat bag at the event check-in table in MINILAND (location subject to change). Reusable Brick-or-Treat themed bags are sold at select park retail. Personal bags and baskets are welcome, but no rolling or wheeled bags.

Allergy note: Allergy-friendly candy options are not available. Per the official 2026 FAQ, candy may contain or come into contact with peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, eggs, wheat, and soy. Guests with specific allergen inquiries can visit the Event Booth in MINILAND or Guest Services.

Costume rules

LEGOLAND’s 2026 costume policy for Brick-or-Treat:

  • Full masks: children only. Adults may wear partial masks, provided the mask does not cover the entire face.
  • Toy weapons: foam or fantasy-style props are allowed. Toy weapons made of hard plastic are not allowed. Realistic toy guns are strictly prohibited.
  • On rides: no capes, backpacks, swords, jet packs, or back-or-waist accessories. Inflatable costumes are not allowed. Wireless accessories are also prohibited on rides. Ride attendants may ask guests to remove masks or headwear.

How it compares to LEGOLAND Florida in 2026

LEGOLAND California’s 2026 event stands in sharp contrast to what is happening at the sister park across the country. LEGOLAND Florida expanded its Brick-or-Treat calendar by 50 percent to 18 dates in 2026, started the season more than two weeks earlier on September 5, and expanded its nightly Monster Skytacular drone show to 500 drones over Lake Eloise, described by the resort as the largest in its history.

California received none of those changes. There is no LEGOLAND California drone show, no fireworks, and no press release announcing a formal 2026 update. For a California guest planning a Brick-or-Treat visit, the 2026 event should feel nearly identical to a 2025 visit. Anyone specifically wanting the drone-show scale or the additional dates would need to travel to Winter Haven, Florida.

Planning tips

The most common on-the-ground complaint about Brick-or-Treat California is crowding. Because the event is included with regular admission rather than gated as a hard ticket, event dates run heavier than a typical park day and passholders mix with day-ticket guests all day.

Two arrival strategies work. Rope drop (around 10 a.m.) gives access to rides before crowds and before the 3 p.m. trick-or-treat trails open. A later arrival (1 to 2 p.m.) keeps young children rested for the Halloween festivities that ramp in the afternoon. A full day tends to burn young kids out.

Rides are typically shortest during the 3 p.m. trick-or-treat rush, when most families head to the candy trails. September dates historically run less crowded than October.
