Theme Parks
For the first time, Disney fans will learn about the creation of the sell-out event, Oogie Boogie Bash at “AN OOGIE BOOGIE AFTERNOON.” The creative team at Disney Live Entertainment and Walt Disney Imagineering will reveal the design and creation process on stage at The Frida Cinema (7 miles from Disneyland) on Sunday, October 9th at 3pm. Moderated and produced by “Dizney Coast to Coast” podcast host, Jeff DePaoli, the panel precedes a screening of Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” Scheduled to appear on the panel are Oogie Boogie Bash creator and show director Jordan Peterson, media and lighting director KC Wilkerson, and producer Jennifer Magill. With these talents covering a wide range of what makes Oogie Boogie Bash so special, it’s sure to be an entertaining and insightful conversation. Tickets begin at $30 and are available here.
Brick-or-Treat Presents Monster Party is coming to the LEGOLAND Florida resort Saturdays & Sundays September 24th – October 30th. Select weekends this fall, the party kicks off as Monsters take over LEGOLAND® and host the Halloween party of the year featuring live entertainment & shows, limited-time attractions, character meet & greets, a costume parade, and – of course – trick-or-treating. Children are invited to don their Halloween best to “Brick-or-Treat” throughout the streets of LEGOLAND. Guests will be able to experience an all-new 4D movie adventure, “The Great Monster Chase”, filled with special effects as four tweens try to sneak their way into a monster party. The event will feature three new shows: “V.I.M. Dance Party Hosted by Lord Vampyre”, “The UnbeLEAFable Halloween Night” (with a special appearance from the newest monster in town – LEGO Plant Monster), and “The Jammin’ Jacks”. Finally, BOO-gie down on the disco Dragon Party Coaster with a groovy monster soundtrack and party lights. Brick-Or-Treat Presents Monster Party is included with daily tickets and select annual passes. Tickets can be purchased online on LEGOLAND’s official website, with day passes starting from $89.99 per person.
Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood has many new and exciting attractions for 2022 – from the 8 houses, Terror Tram, scare zones, and the Death Eaters Encounter scares abound throughout the park. Take a tour of HHN Hollywood with the Haunted Attraction Network in our recent walkthrough video, and then learn more about the design process for two of the event’s houses: Scarecrow: The Reaping and Universal Monsters: Legends Collide, from Creative Director John Murdy and special guest Slash from their panel at Midsummer Scream.
U.S. Haunts & Events
The “Capital City of Fear” is back as Fearlandia (Portloand, Oregon) returns for their 7th season. The haunt has a new location for this year at 10860 SW Barnes Rd, Portland, Oregon 97225 (next to Spirit Halloween) and will feature two new themes: Night Terrors and CarnEvil. Tickets are on sale now for $20 with a non-perishable food item donation for the Sunshine Division. For 2022 Fearlandia is using timed ticketing, so reserve your tickets soon as some nights are expected to sell out.
Get ready for the 9th season of fear at NecroManor Haunted House (Bossier City, LA).The nightmares begin September 30th and continue Fridays – Sundays through October, with the final night on Halloween. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online or at the door.
Southern California has a plethora of haunts to entertain guests this fall. In a Midsummer Scream panel, four area haunts discussed their new offerings for 2022: Fright Nights at Alesmith, Fear Farm, Castle Dark, and Bones’ Gulch. Back for its second year, a highlight of Fright Nights at Alesmith (San Diego, CA) is guests 21+ can experience interactive tasting stations within the haunt. Fear Farm (Phelan, CA) is bigger than ever, with two mazes, a ghost town, and a haunted hayride on 2.5 acres. Castle Dark (Riverside, CA) has three new mazes premiering this season: “Jinx: Fun House of Terror’, “The House Next Door”, and “Morgana’s Revenge”. They also have two new scare zones that share actors with the nearby mazes for a unique scareactor experience. Bones’ Gulch is a collaboration of 3 haunted attractions: Beware the Dark Realm, Restless Souls Manor, and The Farm Haunt. They have partnered with the LA County Sheriffs Dept. Museum to raise funds for the nonprofit.
International Haunts & Events
From October 7th – November 1st Seal Bay Resort in Selsey, West Sussex will mutate into Scream Bay this October with the help of TAG Live®, a Live entertainment and events company, and scare attractions experts from R Space Productions and Unlocked Vision. Scream Bay features two haunts: “The Nightmare Project” and the more family-friendly “Dr. Stein’s Monster Laboratory”. In “The Nightmare Project”, enter AEC (the Alternative and Energy Commission) and join a covert team of scientists as they aim to transform nightmares into energy. This immersive maze experience explores how AEC can collect negative ions produced by nightmares and turn them into a renewable power source, supplying homes and businesses across the UK with this extraordinary new form of energy. Is all as it seems? Find out with live actors and special effects that will leave you screaming. Will you be next to have a nightmare collected? In “Dr. Stein’s Monster Laboratory”, world-renowned monster maker Dr. Stein is all out of ideas in his quest to create the ultimate monster. Step inside his creepy laboratory and find clues to help him in his mission. Be prepared for some spooky surprises in this family-friendly scare trail. Other activities at the resort include the “I Put a Spell on You” musical bonanza, pumpkin carving, face painting, and live entertainment with a spooky Halloween twist. Hauntworld Magazine, a directory of haunted houses and horror attractions, unveiled their 2022 Top 13 Scariest Haunted Houses list this past week. Hauntworld has published this yearly list for nearly two decades to showcase haunts from around the country. Day 16: Writing Blood Beckoning for Howl-O-Scream at SeaWorld Orlando
Today, the new maze for this year’s Howl-O-Scream at SeaWorld Orlando is Blood Beckoning. Now in its 2nd year, Howl-O-Scream at Orlando has an overall theme and the main villains are sirens. This year, Scratch the Blood Siren has a dedicated maze – Blood Beckoning. Scott Swenson wrote the new maze, and today he’ll discuss what that process was like.
Day 15: Planet Doom in Idaho Falls, ID
Planet Doom is a 32,000 SQFT indoor attraction in Idaho Falls, where 100% of the profit goes to the local DARE program. We’ll learn all about the plans for this year’s event from owner Brent Wilson.
Day 14: Sir Henry’s Haunted Trail 2022 in Plant City, FL
Today, we’re visiting Zach Glaros at Sir Henry’s Haunted Trail to learn about their 2022 Season. Now in their 9th year, Sir Henry’s Haunted Trail has been growing every year (and we’ve had them on the show several times. This year’s new ‘Headless’ trail comes complete with a live horse and actor – we’ll hear all about it.
