Five Gaylord Properties to See ICE! and Christmas Events in 2019
Highlights include The Polar Express coming to Gaylord Palms and the first event at the Gaylord Rockies. Gaylord National Resort in National Harbor, Maryland (Washington, DC area) which host events from November 15, 2019 to December 30, 2019 & will feature How the Grinch Stole Christmas, based on the 1957 classic book by Charles Schulz. Guests will watch as the Grinch tries to steal Christmas from the Whos of Whoville through interactive ice sculptures and displays including the Grinch lurking about the chimneys of the Whoville homes, the Grinch’s heart growing thrice its size after realizing the true meaning of Christmas, and the Grinch sitting down at the Whos’ feast, where he carves the roast beast. This entire experience is hand-carved from two million pounds of colorful ice. Other attractions taking place during this year’s Gaylord National Resort holiday season are the new Feast with the Grinch and new Reindeer Rush Ice Tubing; Cirque Dreams Unwrapped; Village Express miniature train; ice skating; Gingerbread Decorating Corner; Mrs. Claus’ Christmas Traditions, and five, two-story ice slides. The temperature in ICE! is 9 degrees F, but complementary parkas are provided for both children and adults.At Gaylord Opryland, in Nashville, Tennessee, this year’s ICE! event will be based on the classic holiday movie,A Christmas Story and will take place from November 8, 2019 to January 1, 2020. This hilarious family tale comes to life through interactive ice sculptures and displays, which feature iconic scenes from the movie such as The Old Man’s Major Award, Aunt Clara’s pink nightmare, and the ultimate, triple-dog dare at the school’s flagpole, all created from two million pounds of ice. A Charlie Brown Christmas is this year’s feature at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas (Dallas/Fort Worth) area, taking place from November 15, 2019 to January 5, 2020. The event, which is based on the heartwarming holiday movie, “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” features five, two-story ice slides and larger-than-life ice sculptures of Charlie Brown and friends in this walk-through winter wonderland of ice sculptures and displays. A separate area is dedicated to a majestic Nativity in crystal-clear ice. Also at Gaylord Texan Resort this holiday season will be a 54-foot-tall Christmas tree, an eight-foot-tall gingerbread house, Santa’s Wild Workshop, snow tubing, Cookies and Milk with Mrs. Claus, and a live, ice-carving zone.
