Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has a new pirate show for 2026, and Captain Hector Barbossa is running it. The Pirates of the Caribbean villain storms the Adventureland stage across from the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, claims the festivities as his own, and renames them Captain Barbossa’s Buccaneer Bash before drilling the crowd into a proper pirate crew. The set is part of Captain Jack’s Buccaneer Bash, one of the new entertainment offerings at this year’s party. Barbossa’s musical takeover is a mix of live sea shanties, comedy, and audience participation, and it runs several times a night.
What happens in the show
The performance opens before Barbossa ever appears. A rowdy pirate band takes the stage with “Wellerman,” the sea shanty that went viral online a few years back, and the crew members introduce themselves with comic pirate names, among them Riptide Riley, Typhoon Taylor, and Kevin. The band carries the live music throughout, fiddle included.
Then Barbossa interrupts. He assumes command, informs the crowd that the party is now Captain Barbossa’s Buccaneer Bash, and announces “a modest charter” of articles that a proper pirate must live by. From there the show turns into a series of lessons.
Article one is learning to “talk like a pirate.” Barbossa leads the audience through a call-and-response of pirate phrases, a shouted “Avast! Ahoy! Aye!,” a count of three “yo ho’s,” and an “Anchors Aweigh” refrain the crowd echoes back. Article two moves on to the “heave ho,” framed as preparation for confronting a Kraken. The audience is split in two for a friendly competition, one side shouting “heave” and the other “ho,” building from a quiet crouch to a full-volume roar while Barbossa judges the results with his usual impatience.
The music keeps coming. The band launches into “What Shall We Do with a Drunken Sailor,” with the crowd invited into the “way, hey, and up she rises” chorus, and the band gets an instrumental fiddle break. For the finale, Barbossa and the musicians perform “Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me),” the signature song from the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, as the audience’s official induction into the crew. The show closes on a joke that rewards anyone who knows the films, when a crew member asks the captain to fetch an apple, a nod to Barbossa’s fixation on the fruit in the Pirates story.

Barbossa’s set is one piece of a larger offering called Captain Jack’s Buccaneer Bash, staged across from the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. The other performances feature Captain Jack Sparrow recruiting new crew members and the Dashing Corsairs, a group performing juggling and stunt routines. Barbossa’s set runs roughly 20 minutes. There is no published schedule for it, so it plays several times a night, slotted in between the other acts between 7 p.m. and midnight, which means catching it is a matter of being in Adventureland at the right time.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party runs on select nights from August 7 through October 31, 2026, at Magic Kingdom. Captain Jack’s Buccaneer Bash joins the party’s returning entertainment, which includes Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade, Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular, and the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular.
