The 2026 gingerbread house in Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion Holiday is a music box more than 10 feet tall. As its Santa Jack key turns, it plays a holiday song, and its lid lifts as a skeleton ballerina rises out of the top and spins. It sits on the ballroom table in the attraction’s Grand Hall and marks 25 years of gingerbread houses in Haunted Mansion Holiday, which returned on August 21 and stays up through the holiday season.

The 2026 gingerbread music box
Disneyland calls this year’s house “a delightfully monstrous music box.” It is decorated with grinding gears, turning tines, and festive details. When the key turns, the box plays “a haunting rendition of a beloved holiday classic,” and the lid lifts to reveal the skeleton in a spotlight. From the ride, you see the red lid swing open and the skeleton ballerina rise from the box.
In the attraction’s story, the gingerbread house is one of Jack’s holiday traditions, a giant gift he leaves for the ghosts who dance around the Grand Hall, and it gets a new design every year. A team of carpenters, storytellers, pastry chefs, bakers, and confectionery and technical specialists builds it, and it fills the Grand Hall with the scent of gingerbread. Disneyland is marking 25 years of these houses in 2026. Haunted Mansion Holiday has run since 2001.
Recent Haunted Mansion Holiday gingerbread houses
- 2026: a music box more than 10 feet tall with a skeleton ballerina, turned by a Santa Jack key.
- 2025: “A Murder Most Fowl,” a homage to the Raven, with 13 crows that moved on their perches or watched guests pass by.
- 2024: a Dr. Finkelstein creation with Igor and the Gigantic Gingerbread Zombie, Lil’ Franky, whose head popped off and on. Disney put that house at 5 feet tall and 6 feet wide.
This year’s house is about twice as tall as the 2024 display.
What else to look for in Haunted Mansion Holiday
Jack Skellington dresses as Santa Jack and takes over the mansion with Nightmare Before Christmas decor, blending Halloween and Christmas. Most of the overlay returns from year to year, and Disneyland’s list of highlights for 2026 covers what to watch for from the moment you walk up:
- The facade: more than 400 candles and over 100 jack-o’-lanterns.
- The stretching room: Jack and his ghost dog Zero appear in an animated sequence on the ceiling, and Zero turns up again among the changing portraits in the gallery corridor.
- Madame Leota: played by Disney Legend Kim Irvine, continuing the role her mother, Disney Legend Leota Toombs, originated.
- The Seance Room: 13 spinning fortune cards for Madame Leota’s “13 Days of Christmas,” as she proclaims, “My ghoul love gave to me…” The gifts on the cards include 11 candles floating, nine magic crystals, five lucky charms, and two passion potions.
- The graveyard: nearly 7,500 square feet of snow and almost 1,000 orange lights in the trees.
- More than two dozen extra animated figures, from man-eating wreaths to vampire teddy bears.

Dates and how to ride
Haunted Mansion Holiday returned with Halloween Time on August 21, 2026, and stays up through the holiday season. Disneyland’s holiday season runs November 13, 2026, through January 6, 2027. The overlay is included with Disneyland Park admission, and Disneyland says to check Disneyland.com or the Disneyland app on the day of your visit for how to access the attraction.
Pair it with Spiral Hill Confectionery at the Grand Californian
For a second Nightmare Before Christmas display made of sugar, walk to the lobby of Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. This year’s Halloween Time display, Spiral Hill Confectionery, has Jack in his Sandy Claws suit and Sally on a snowy Spiral Hill dotted with jack-o’-lanterns, Zero’s doghouse on the front, and Oogie Boogie and the Mayor of Halloween Town on the back. The hotel’s sign says the pastry team spent 800 hours on it, using 140 pounds of fondant, 175 pounds of chocolate, 150 pounds of powdered sugar, 105 pounds of rice cereal, and 38 pounds of marshmallows.

The lobby display changes with the season. For the 2025 holidays, the Grand Californian’s gingerbread display took 520 pounds of gingerbread dough and 720 hours and hid 25 Hidden Mickeys.
