Premium Scream Night is the priciest and most exclusive way into Halloween Horror Nights, and after doing it this year, the pitch holds up. We attended the August 27 preview at Universal Orlando and walked out having seen everything in a single night.
What Premium Scream Night is
Premium Scream Night is a separately ticketed, limited-capacity preview held before Halloween Horror Nights officially opens. Universal is running two in 2026, on August 27 and October 19. Tickets start around $399 and up. That is a lot, but the price buys more than a head start. Admission includes select food and nonalcoholic drinks and free parking, and the event runs from 6:30 p.m. to 2 a.m.
The crowds are the whole reason to go
With capacity capped, the in-park boards showed five-minute waits on operating houses and rides for much of the night. We entered at 6:15 p.m., since early entry was possible, and never fought a real line. It is the rare Halloween Horror Nights visit where doing everything is realistic instead of aspirational. As Philip put it, “It’s definitely possible to do everything this year with the adjusted crowds.”
The food is included
Select food and nonalcoholic drinks come with the ticket, which changes how you plan the night. We tried every item. The standout was the Carn “Evil” Smash Tacos, $14.99 on the regular menu, with the Birria Pizza Fries and the Death by Cheesestick close behind. For the full lineup, see our HHN 35 food guide.
The exclusive t-shirt
Premium Scream Night has an exclusive t-shirt, sold at the Main Store and the Tribute Store. Sizes run out, so grab yours early if you want one.
Meeting HamiKuma
HamiKuma, the fan-favorite character from Universal Studios Japan, is meeting guests in Orlando this year. The wait was lower during the day, so it is worth catching early.
Is it worth it, and how to do it right
The math backed it up for us. Adding up everything we ate and drank, all of it included with the ticket, came to $304.79 at regular prices, helped along by going back for the Carn “Evil” Smash Tacos twice. With free parking on top, the night covered a big share of its own cost.
For $399 and up, Premium Scream Night is worth it if your goal is to do everything without the lines, or if you want a calmer first look before the full-crowd nights. If you only want a house or two, a regular night makes more sense. If you do go, a few tips from our night. Arrive early, since you may get in before the posted start. Do the haunted houses first and save the scare zones for after dark, when they play best. Eat throughout the night or push food later, since the booths were busiest early in the evening. Plan your route and you really can clear the whole event.
