“I Know What You Did Last Summer: The Final Catch” opens September 11 at SeaWorld Orlando, SeaWorld San Diego and SeaWorld San Antonio. United Parks says it is the first time the film has been brought to life at a major Halloween event.
The House Is Built on the 1997 Film, Not the Sequel
The house is licensed from Sony Pictures and draws on the first installment of the franchise. Per United Parks, guests “wander through horrifying recreations of several unforgettable movie scenes and into the events that unfold during the original Southport massacre.”
That is the 1997 plot: four friends cover up a fatal accident, and a year later someone starts making them pay for it. The company describes the walkthrough as a nightmare “where every secret has a price and every corner hides the vengeful Fisherman.”
All Three Versions Open September 11
Each park gets its own build of the house, and all three open on September 11, the same night Howl-O-Scream begins across the chain.

- SeaWorld San Antonio runs through November 1 and is included with park admission
“Our Most Ambitious Howl-O-Scream Yet”
Marc Swanson, CEO of United Parks and Resorts, framed the license as a milestone for the chain.
“We’re always looking for new ways to raise the bar on immersive entertainment, and bringing ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ to our Howl-O-Scream events is an exciting milestone for all three SeaWorld parks,” Swanson said. “This thrilling franchise has captivated horror fans for years with its suspense and terror. Now our guests will step into that world, facing some of the same heart-pounding moments that made the film come alive. As one thrilling part of a lineup of haunted houses, scare zones, live entertainment and immersive experiences, we are excited to deliver what we believe is our most ambitious Howl-O-Scream yet.”
Howl-O-Scream has historically run on original in-house concepts rather than licensed film properties, which is the part of this worth noting. Universal built Halloween Horror Nights on licensed IP and United Parks built its answer on houses its own teams wrote. A Sony license at three parks at once is a different play from the one the brand has been running.
What Else Is Announced at Each Park
United Parks published each park’s framework earlier in the summer, so The Final Catch fills a slot that was already counted rather than adding one.
SeaWorld Orlando has confirmed six haunted houses, five of them all-new, plus seven scare zones, five all-new interactive bars and two shows. The Final Catch is one of three all-new houses named so far, alongside Everything Must Stay and The Crawl Space. Two more all-new houses and the returning house are still unnamed. The named scare zones are Extermination Order, a swarming infestation sweep, Nekrosis, a seaside town frozen at midnight on January 1, 2000, Just One More Chapter, a gothic garden built on dark romance, and returning zones Trailer Park Tragedy and Woodrot Hollow. SeaWorld San Diego gets the most out of this one. The Final Catch is the sixth and final house of its 2026 lineup, the one SeaWorld had teased as a house that “will reveal itself from the murky depths of Mission Bay in a few short weeks.” San Diego’s houses are now fully named: The Final Catch, Area 64: MOTHERSHIP, Nightmare Experiment Sweet DreamzZz, Death Water Bayou Awakening, Simon’s Slaughterhouse and 3D MAZE: Circus of the Damned. SeaWorld San Antonio had announced no 2026 lineup at all before this. The Final Catch is its first named house of the season.
Elsewhere in the chain, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay has named four houses and Busch Gardens Williamsburg has named six.
