The Last Kiss, a new Blumhouse teen slasher starring Mckenna Grace, comes home on digital September 15 to buy or rent with no subscription. Grace plays a teenager cursed to see how anyone she kisses will die.

A First Kiss That Turns Deadly

Laurel (Mckenna Grace) imagines her first kiss will be a fairy tale. Instead, the curse turns it into a nightmare: after a vision reveals her crush is doomed in a murder spree targeting her closest friends, she races to unmask the killer before the mystery becomes a massacre. Blumhouse bills it as a teen slasher romance made to be a spooky sleepover movie for mystery lovers of all ages.

It is directed and co-written by Yoko Okumura (Unseen), her second film with Blumhouse Atomic Monster. Okumura has said the fairy-tale mythology of a first kiss inspired a fairy-tale homage woven through the film’s look, score, and visual language. Alongside Grace, whom horror fans know from Scream 7 and Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, the cast includes Jaden Michael and Arkira Chantaratananond. It is produced by Jason Blum with James DeMonaco, the creator of The Purge, and cinematographer Michael Fimognari. The movie runs 1 hour 37 minutes and is not rated.

On Digital September 15, No Subscription

The Last Kiss premieres at home on digital on September 15, with no theatrical run first. Universal Pictures Home Entertainment is releasing it to buy or rent on digital retail platforms, including Prime Video, Apple TV, and YouTube, among others, with no ads or subscription required. Universal is calling it a “Home Premiere,” its model of releasing a film to own or rent digitally before it appears on any subscription service. The studio says it arrives months before it reaches subscription streaming, so buying or renting is the way to watch it this fall.

The Blumhouse Connection

Blumhouse Atomic Monster is the horror studio behind franchises like Halloween, The Conjuring, Insidious, M3GAN, and Five Nights at Freddy’s, formed when Jason Blum’s Blumhouse merged with James Wan’s Atomic Monster in early 2024. Its movies regularly turn up as houses at Halloween Horror Nights, which HAN covers every year, so a new Blumhouse slasher arriving for Halloween is on theme.

The Last Kiss arrives on digital September 15. The film’s page is at Universal Pictures at Home.
