For family entertainment centers, the company offers a turnkey package of consultation, arcade design, theming and layout, installation, on-premise training and post-sale maintenance, and it arranges financing and leasing through partner lenders. A home entertainment line covers pinball, arcade games, foosball, air hockey and other games.
Estel Shaffer, known as Pop, was a pharmacist and drugstore owner in 1929 when an operator placed a Billiard Practice skill game on his counter at a penny a play. He soon sold the drugstore and set up the Shaffer Coin Machine Company on First Avenue in Columbus, Ohio, near the company’s current headquarters. A fourth generation of the Shaffer family owns the business today.
