Art in the Attic, a Terrifier holiday doll of Art the Clown, is turning up at Spirit Christmas stores. Its box shows Art in an elf hat in a rocking chair in an attic, the Terrifier 3 image director Damien Leone took from Black Christmas.

Art in the Attic, Terrifier’s Take on The Elf on the Shelf

Art in the Attic is Terrifier’s take on The Elf on the Shelf: Art the Clown as a sitting holiday doll. The box reads “Damien Leone’s Terrifier” and “ages 14+,” and its art shows Art in a tall pointed elf hat, cross-legged in a rocking chair in a wooden attic with a round window and a rocking horse.

In Kevin Heimbach’s photo, the doll sits on a windowsill in a Santa suit and Christmas-tree glasses, holding a small knife. Shoppers have been posting the doll from Spirit Christmas stores.

The Terrifier 3 Scene Behind the Name

Leone told io9 in October 2024 that Black Christmas is his favorite Christmas horror film and that Terrifier 3 pays homage to it, and the moment he named was “Art in the attic, looking out the window in the rocking chair.” In Terrifier 3, Art hibernates for several years sitting near a window, a callback to the corpse in the sorority house attic in 1974’s Black Christmas, Collider reported.

Leone also told io9 that the Tales From the Crypt Christmas episode was the reason he made Terrifier 3 a Christmas film.

Art the Clown’s Christmas Run

  • Santa Art at Spirit Halloween: Spirit’s 6-foot-3 Art the Clown Santa Claus animatronic from Terrifier 3 came out in July 2025 at $269.99, and it comes with removable Christmas tree sunglasses, the same style the doll wears in Kevin Heimbach’s photo.
  • “Every Day Is Artmas” at Halloween Horror Nights: Art the Clown stars in the 2026 Terror Tram at Universal Studios Hollywood, a Christmas-gone-wrong overhaul, in my Terror Tram story. A blood-soaked Santa Art also roams the park, and the new Clown Cafe sells a Christmas Tree Glasses Sandwich Cookie.
  • Art for your dog: Spirit’s Art the Clown pet costume is $24.99, in my pet costume guide.

Where to Find Art in the Attic

Spirit Christmas has 43 stores on its locator in 15 states. Five Christmas-only stores opened first, on October 14 and 15, in Hamilton, Marlton and Riverdale, New Jersey, Winter Garden, Florida, and Youngstown, Ohio. The other 38 are Spirit Halloween stores that reopen as Spirit Christmas on November 6. My Spirit Christmas locations page lists every store and when it opens.

Spirit hasn’t listed Art in the Attic on its website or posted a price yet, so a store is the place to look for one.
