Barnes & Noble is giving away a free LEGO Halloween build at more than 470 of its stores the weekend of October 9 to 11, and some stores are already full.
A Free In-Store LEGO Mini Build
The LEGO Halloween Build Event is a costume-optional, in-store LEGO mini build that runs about an hour. Barnes & Noble invites guests to come “dressed in your favorite Halloween costume,” though it says dressing up is optional. The listing calls the build “perfect for ages 10+” and adds that “LEGO enthusiasts of all ages are welcome,” and some stores open it to younger kids, listing it for ages 5 to 12. The chain describes it only as “a LEGO Halloween themed mini build” and does not name the model in its materials. The toy site Brick Fanatics reports it is a witch on a broomstick. The build itself is free, but “kits are limited,” according to the event listing.
More Than 470 Stores Across 48 States
Counting Barnes & Noble’s event listings, HAN found more than 470 participating stores across 48 states. Most run on Saturday, October 10, with others on Friday the 9th and Sunday the 11th. Texas has the most at 52 stores, followed by California with 51, then Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, and Illinois.
Start times run from late morning to 7 p.m. depending on the location, and some stores hold more than one session across the three days. In New York, the Union Square store runs its build on Saturday, October 10 at 3 p.m. In Chicago, the State Street store has one on Sunday, October 11 at 1 p.m., and in Los Angeles, The Grove at Farmers Market hosts one that same Sunday at 11 a.m.
A companion event, a free LEGO Holiday Build, follows on Saturday, November 14, for anyone who misses the Halloween weekend.
How to Reserve a Spot
There is no single national sign-up, and the details differ from one store to the next. Some locations were already taking reservations by mid-September, others said they would start in late September, and a handful route sign-ups through Eventbrite. Kits are limited, and the events are filling: at least 25 stores had already marked their listings full by September 20.
So the practical step is to check with your local Barnes & Noble rather than assume. Search “LEGO Halloween” on the store-events locator at stores.barnesandnoble.com, open your nearest store’s event page for its date and start time, and call or stop in to reserve before the kits run out. For the many stores that simply say to “contact our store” to sign up, a quick phone call is the most reliable way to confirm a session still has room.
