Gold Coast, Australia — Fright Nights at Warner Bros. Movie World has two new character encounters this October, Clayface and the Deadites of Evil Dead Burn, alongside five horror mazes and eight escape rooms on Australia’s Gold Coast. The event runs nine nights through Halloween, and tickets are A$89 or A$99 depending on the night.

What Is New for 2026

The park’s four WB Horror Encounters are themed sets where guests come face to face with a horror character:

  • Clayface (NEW): an actor who is disfigured in an attack and becomes what the park calls “a clay monstrosity”
  • Evil Dead Burn (NEW): the Deadites from the film that is also a haunted house at Halloween Horror Nights in Orlando and Hollywood this fall
  • Pennywise (Returning): Pennywise the Dancing Clown, in the sewers of Derry
  • Valak (Returning): the demonic nun from The Conjuring Universe

Clayface and Evil Dead Burn take the places of the Crooked Man and Regan from The Exorcist, the other two encounters on the event’s site last October.

Fright Nights also has one more night than in 2025, when it ran eight, and a lower top price for general admission, A$99 against A$109 last year. It now ends at 10 p.m. instead of 10:30.

“Our creative and operations team have done an exceptional job transforming the park this year to expand the footprint through the maze and panic room precinct to truly bring this area to life with live DJs, and lighting and projection mapping technology,” said Renee Soutar, chief marketing officer of Village Roadshow Theme Parks, which operates Movie World.

The Five Mazes

All five mazes return from last year, when Eternal Dark and Krypt of Kain were new.

  • Eternal Dark: a derelict spacecraft whose crew has been infected by an alien parasite
  • Krypt of Kain: the basement beneath the Hotel of Horrors, once the site of ritual killings
  • DCeased: DC’s Super Heroes after Darkseid’s anti-life equation has infected them, from the DC comic series
  • Circurse: the burned ruins of a circus where the clown Sir Smiles-a-lot still lives
  • Hellship: the wreck of the cruise liner Dark Star, where a ruby called the Devil’s Heart is said to open a gateway to Hell

Scare Zones, Escape Rooms, and Rides

Movie World calls its five scare zones precincts: Pain Street, Carnival Creep Show, The Meat Grinder, Slaughter House, and Fright Central. Slaughter House is the entrance to four of the mazes and has a DJ, and Fright Central has the main stage and the character encounters.

The eight Panic Rooms are escape rooms, sold apart from the event ticket at A$139 per room for a whole group.

Seven of the park’s rides are on the event’s list, including DC Rivals HyperCoaster, Superman Escape, and the Scooby-Doo Spooky Coaster. The night opens with a stage show called The Summoning, and a clown show, Late Night Circus, plays at 7, 8, and 9 p.m.

Fright Nights Horror Quest, an online game the park’s operator built with the Australian company Taste Labs, unlocks a new story chapter and a collectible card every night of October, and the first card is free.
