Forty-three U.S. haunted houses and four theme parks are open this weekend, November 6 and 7, most of them for the last nights of their 2026 seasons. More than a dozen hold lights-out nights, when guests walk through in the dark with a glow stick or flashlight.
Theme Parks With Halloween Nights This Weekend
Kings Dominion, Carowinds and Dorney Park each run Halloween nights on November 6 and 7, and Six Flags Magic Mountain’s Fright Fest runs November 5 through 7.
- Kings Dominion (Doswell, Virginia): Halloween Haunt, with haunted mazes, scare zones and Overlord’s Resurrection, runs Friday, November 6, from 6 p.m. to midnight, and Saturday, November 7, when the park is open 11 a.m. to midnight. Tricks & Treats, the family daytime event, runs Saturday and Sunday, November 8. My Kings Dominion Halloween Haunt guide has the full lineup.
- Carowinds (Charlotte, North Carolina): SCARowinds runs select nights through November 7, including November 6 and 7. The mazes and shows are in my SCARowinds guide.
- Dorney Park (Allentown, Pennsylvania): Halloween Haunt runs November 6 and 7, its last two nights of 2026, though Skeleton Crew and Sink the Jerk are off those nights. The mazes are in my Dorney Park Halloween Haunt guide.
- Six Flags Magic Mountain (Valencia, California): Fright Fest has three nights left, Thursday, November 5, Friday, November 6, and Saturday, November 7, from 6:30 p.m. I walked all seven mazes for my Magic Mountain Fright Fest review.
What Is a Lights-Out Night?
A lights-out night, also called a blackout, runs the haunted house with its lights off. At Hush Haunted Attraction, Folklore Haunted House and Bayville Scream Park, each guest carries one glow stick in total darkness. HellScream in Colorado Springs gives each group a single LED candle, and The 13th Gate in Baton Rouge calls its version Flashlight Fright Nights.
At Field of Horrors’ Extreme Scare Night in Troy, New York, actors may lightly touch any guest who isn’t carrying a red glow stick, which costs $1 at the gate and signals no contact. Jason’s Woods in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, requires every guest at its first Blackout to sign a waiver and recommends it for ages 18 and up. The Dent Schoolhouse in Cincinnati says its Lights Out night “traditionally features more live actors inside the schoolhouse than any other Dent event.”

House of Torment, Nashville Nightmare, Fear Farm and the 13th Floor haunts in Denver, San Antonio and Houston all still run the Jason haunted house, where a screen lights up in the dark beside four buttons labeled Panic, Slash, Strike and Stalk, and guests pick how Jason attacks next.
Christmas-Themed Haunts This Weekend
- Land of Illusion (Middletown, Ohio) holds A Christmas Nightmare on November 6 and 7. Its Christmas Glow light display opens November 18 with a tree lighting.
- Field of Screams Branson (Branson, Missouri) runs The Fright Before Christmas, a Halloween and Christmas crossover, on November 6, 7, 13 and 14, from 7 to 11 p.m.
- Creepy Hollow Haunted House (Rosharon, Texas) runs Lights Out with Krampus on November 6 and 7, from 7:30 to 10 p.m.
Terror Vault in San Francisco, whose Slashed shows sold out, starts a one-hour, lights-on tour of its sets on November 7, and my Bay Area haunted houses guide has the details.
