Greensboro, NC — Woods of Terror in Greensboro, North Carolina, is open on select nights through Saturday, November 7, 2026, with 18 attractions, and new this season is Dee Snider’s Strangeland, a haunted house based on the 1998 horror film that the Twisted Sister singer wrote and starred in. General admission runs from $40 to $60 depending on the night.

Haunted Attraction Network’s full walkthrough of the 2024 event shows the trail and the Monster Midway. It was filmed two seasons before Strangeland opened.

What Is Strangeland?

Strangeland is an R-rated horror film from 1998, written and produced by Dee Snider, the singer of Twisted Sister. Snider also plays the villain, Captain Howdy, who meets teenagers in an online chat room and then kidnaps and tortures them. One of them is the daughter of a police detective, and the film follows the detective as he hunts Captain Howdy, first to an arrest and then again four years later, after Captain Howdy is released from a mental institution.

John Pieplow directed the film, which runs 1 hour and 25 minutes. The cast includes Kevin Gage as the detective, Linda Cardellini as his daughter, Elizabeth Peña, Robert Englund, and Amy Smart.

Dee Snider’s Strangeland at Woods of Terror

Dee Snider’s Strangeland is one of the 18 attractions on Woods of Terror’s 2026 list, and the haunt worked with Snider on it. “This season, Woods of Terror has had the incredible opportunity to work with Dee Snider on Strangeland,” the haunt wrote in a September 25 post on its blog.

“The challenge is figuring out how to take something people know from the screen and translate that feeling into a live environment,” Woods of Terror wrote in the same post.

Woods of Terror’s attractions page lists Dee Snider’s Strangeland with the note “Details Coming Soon,” so as of October 6 the haunt has not described the rooms.
