Hidden Valley turned its ranch black for Halloween. Spooky Ranch, out today for $3.97 only at Walmart, is the brand’s Original Ranch flavor in a pitch-black dressing, and the bottle glows in the dark.

What’s in the Bottle
Hidden Valley says Spooky Ranch has the same classic, creamy taste as its Original Ranch. The company says the black color comes from fruit juice and cocoa, with no artificial flavors. The back label lists buttermilk, fruit juice, cocoa, and caramel color among the ingredients. The bottle holds 12 ounces, the dressing is gluten-free, and a 2-tablespoon serving has 120 calories.
The label keeps the Hidden Valley logo and adds a jack-o’-lantern, bats, spiderwebs, and a purple night sky, with “Spooky Ranch” in dripping green letters and “Limited Edition” across the bottom.
Stacy Stokes, Hidden Valley’s vice president of marketing, said, “Spooky Ranch takes everything fans love about Original Ranch and adds a little Halloween magic.”
How Hidden Valley Suggests Using It
Hidden Valley pitches Spooky Ranch as a dip for wings and veggies, a salad dressing, and a drizzle for pizza. Its Mummy Ranch Hot Dogs recipe comes with a Spooky Ranch spiderweb dip, and the company suggests setting it out at Halloween parties next to its Pumpkin-Shaped Ranch Cheeseball, Homemade Pizza Rolls, and Roasted Ranch Pumpkin Seeds.
Where to Buy Spooky Ranch
Spooky Ranch is $3.97 and sold only at Walmart for the Halloween season, while supplies last. Hidden Valley says it’s available at Walmart now. It wasn’t listed on Walmart.com when I checked Thursday afternoon, and Hidden Valley’s product page still said “Coming soon to Walmart,” so check your local Walmart.
Hidden Valley calls Spooky Ranch its first-ever seasonal product. The brand has sold holiday novelties before, like a $50 mini keg that held 5 liters of ranch in 2017, but that keg was filled with the regular dressing and sold as a gift.
