Disneyland Resort’s Haunted Mansion Celebrates Its 50th Anniversary
Haunted Mansion, one of Disneyland Resort’s oldest and most popular attractions, is about to celebrate its 50th anniversary. To commemorate this momentous milestone, special anniversary merchandise—including collectibles, apparel, accessories, and more—will be available beginning August 9 at the Disneyland Park.
Among the unique offerings is Host a Ghost, a jar containing one of the Haunted Mansion’s 999 restless spirits. Tapping on the jar rouses Madame Leota, who conjures the resident spirit to materialize within its glass enclosure. The departed souls available to host include Constance Hatchaway, Professor Phineas Plump, and The Hatbox Ghost. The Host a Ghost is available at a dedicated cart in New Orleans Square.
Among the apparel offerings are commemorative items such as an ear hat, tee shirts, and other ghoulish gear as well as all manner of Haunted Mansion-inspired jewelry and accessories. Alex and Ani offers a “50 Years of Happy Haunts” charm, and Pandora has three new Haunted Mansion-inspired charms including a limited-edition anniversary charm. These charms are available at La Mascarade d’Orleans. In addition, there are a variety of anniversary-themed pins to choose from.
If Disney fans are more into experiences than clothes and collectibles, there’s the special, after-hours event, “The Haunted Mansion: Celebrating 50 Years of Retirement Unliving.” At the 13th hour, Madame Leota will make a special appearance to conjure up some fun haunting. This separate-ticket event features themed food and beverages; after-hours access to select attractions in New Orleans Square, Frontierland, and Adventureland; photo opportunities; and live entertainment.
