North Hollywood, CA — Mary & Margo’s Halloween Sideshow of Madness, a two-woman comedy about dead performers who need the audience to summon them back for one last show, opens October 14 at Zombie Joe’s Underground Theatre Group in North Hollywood. It runs Wednesdays and Thursdays through October 29 at 7:30 p.m. and 9 p.m., and tickets are $20 in advance.

About the Show

Katie Oliver and Kristen Hansen wrote, directed, and star in the show as Mary and Margo, two performers who died in a theater accident years ago and have been trapped in the Void, where they’ve spent their time creating what they believe will be their greatest show yet. To perform it they have to be summoned back from the dead, and the theatre’s release says “only the audience can help Mary and Margo accomplish their dream of performing one last time.”

The show is for ages 15 and older, the venue is wheelchair accessible, and costumes are encouraged. Zombie Joe’s Underground Theatre Group produces it with Matt Morillo for KADM Productions.

About Katie Oliver and Kristen Hansen

Oliver directed the 2025 Hollywood Fringe show Sweet Air and founded Pink Clubhouse Productions. Hansen holds an MFA in acting from Rutgers University and directed the feature film Sonny Boy.

Mary & Margo began as a series of online sketches during quarantine and has since played venues including The Broadwater and Eastwood Hollywood Theatre, according to the release. The duo’s previous show, The Mary & Margo Art Expérience, played this year’s Hollywood Fringe Festival and received a Theatre 68 award, the release says.

Critic Guy Picot, writing for Gia On The Move in June, called the 30-minute Fringe show “a lightweight delight,” with short, surreal pieces and a closing song that brought the audience in.

Two Halloween Shows at Zombie Joe’s

Zombie Joe’s runs the Sideshow on Wednesdays and Thursdays and Urban Death Tour of Terror “Ultra” on select Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from October 9 through November 1. Urban Death is a maze, a live show of wordless horror vignettes, and a second maze, for ages 17 and older, with graphic content and nudity, at $24 in advance or $28 at the door.

Urban Death has run at the theatre since 2005, including a Cannibal Corpse edition in 2022. The theatre marked 30 years that summer with a panel at Midsummer Scream, and the recording is in the HAN podcast archive. Both Halloween shows are in my Los Angeles haunted houses guide.
