Urban Death Tour of Terror “Ultra” walks guests through a dark maze, into a theatre for a live show of wordless horror vignettes, and back out through a second maze, all in about 45 minutes. Zombie Joe’s Underground Theatre Group runs the immersive horror-theatre attraction in North Hollywood on select Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from October 9 through November 1.
The run opens with a maze the theatre bills as a home for “Creatures from Beyond.” It leads to the stage for Urban Death’s signature live show, a set of wordless horror vignettes and physical performances, before a second “Tour of Terror” maze sends guests back out. The attraction is for ages 17 and older and carries a warning for graphic content, mature “triggering” themes, and nudity. The venue is wheelchair accessible.
Urban Death is a North Hollywood fixture, not a one-off. Zombie Joe and Jana Wimer created it in 2005, and it has run annually for more than 21 years, with touring productions in New York City, Cape Town, and Edinburgh over the years. It performs at Midsummer Scream each year, and Yelp has named it one of its “Top 10 Scariest Haunts in America.” HAN has covered the company before, including its Cannibal Corpse production and a post-show Q&A with Wimer and Zombie Joe. This year’s edition is directed by Denise Devin and produced by Zombie Joe.
