McDonald’s Boo Buckets are back for Halloween on Tuesday, October 20, and this year the five Happy Meal pails are Disney villains: Jafar, Ursula, Scar, Cruella and Maleficent. Each bucket comes with a villain-inspired lid and stickers, for a limited time while supplies last.

It’s part of my Fall and Halloween Fast Food 2026 guide.

Is McDonald’s Doing Boo Buckets in 2026?

The Boo Buckets return as the Disney Villains Boo Buckets Happy Meal at participating McDonald’s restaurants, starting October 20. McDonald’s Menu Spotter entry gives no end date or price.

“This spooky szn, we’re entering our villain era,” McDonald’s said on that page, where it posts new menu items.

The Five Disney Villains Boo Buckets

In McDonald’s poster for the line, each bucket is a different color, with a villain’s face peering out from the side:

  • Jafar: a red bucket, with the jewel of his turban.
  • Ursula: a purple bucket, with her tentacles curling around the side.
  • Scar: an orange bucket, with his black mane.
  • Cruella: a white bucket, with her black-and-white hair.
  • Maleficent: a green bucket, with her horned headdress.

Boo Buckets From 2023 to 2026

The October 20 start is a day earlier than last year’s October 21. McDonald’s Menu Spotter entries list these buckets for the past four Halloweens:

  • 2026: Disney Villains, Jafar, Ursula, Scar, Cruella and Maleficent, from October 20.
  • 2025: Ghost, Pumpkin and Goblin, plus two new designs, Cat and Zombie, from October 21.
  • 2024: Monster designs in white, orange, green and, new that year, blue, from October 15.
  • 2023: Monster, Skeleton, Mummy and Vampire, from October 17. McDonald’s said the Vampire design was “launching for the first time since the OG purple Boo Bucket.”

The 2023 to 2025 buckets were Halloween monsters and faces, and 2026 is the first of the four years with Disney characters.

Other Halloween Buckets This Year

  • Tim Hortons: the Timbits Trick-or-Treat Bucket is $11.99 filled with 31 Timbits, with $6 refills, at participating U.S. restaurants since September 30.
  • Dunkin: the Halloween Munchkins bucket comes filled with 50 Munchkins in a new purple design that glows in the dark for the first time, at participating restaurants from October 14.
  • Home Depot: the $2.98 Halloween-print bucket is the 2-gallon orange utility bucket wrapped in ghosts, jack-o’-lanterns, bats and spiders.
  • Petco and Lowe’s: Petco’s printed pails start at $1.50, and my Halloween buckets guide has every retailer’s price and which ones ship.
  • Disneyland: the standard Halloween popcorn bucket has Ursula, the Evil Queen and Maleficent looming over a bubbling cauldron, at $16 with popcorn during Halloween Time, which runs through October 31.

More Disney Villains This Halloween

Villains Land, the dark-themed land coming to Magic Kingdom, has its story and both rides confirmed: a Maleficent coaster through a mountaintop fortress, and a dark ride hosted by the Magic Mirror. Disney has not said when it opens.

At Hong Kong Disneyland, the villain-themed “Party Like a Villain” season runs through November 1, with Maleficent leading ten villains, Jafar among them, down Main Street, U.S.A. in Uninvited! A Villains Takeover Party. Shanghai Disneyland’s Halloween also runs through November 1, with Disney Villains in Donald’s Halloween Treat Cavalcade.

The Disney Villains Boo Buckets come with a Happy Meal at McDonald’s starting Tuesday, October 20.
