Oogie Boogie Bash returns to Disney California Adventure on a record 33 nights from August 18 through October 31, 2026, with a new Haunted Mansion street party, Yzma, and pricing that held flat year over year.

Anaheim, CA — Oogie Boogie Bash, A Disney Halloween Party opens Monday, August 18, 2026, and runs on 33 select nights through October 31 at Disney California Adventure. The separately ticketed after-hours event is the marquee Halloween experience at the Disneyland Resort, and 2026 delivers the biggest calendar in the event’s history, two more nights than 2025 and six more than 2024.

Most of what happens inside the party will look familiar to returning guests. The 2026 additions worth planning around are a new Madame Leota-hosted street party that replaces the retired Frightfully Fun Parade, and Yzma from The Emperor’s New Groove joining the villain treat-trail lineup.

Should you go? The short answer first

I have attended Oogie Boogie Bash every year, and my honest take on 2026 is this. If you came in 2025 and you have a Magic Key, most of what you saw is coming back essentially unchanged. Unless you specifically want to see Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake, Yzma, or another new-for-2026 element, I would not recommend that you spend another $139 to $199 on a ticket this year.

If you have never been, or you do not have a Magic Key, that math flips. Wait times inside Disney California Adventure drop dramatically after 7 p.m. once day guests clear, and the villain treat trails, Villains Grove, meet-and-greets, and street party are exclusive to the Bash. You cannot see any of that on a regular admission ticket. Seeing it all in one five-hour window takes planning, but for a first-timer, it is worth the price. First-timer verdicts across other outlets skew strongly positive.

For full disclosure, I am obsessed with Halloween, so I will be there. The rest of this guide covers everything you need to plan the night, and the full “is it worth it” breakdown is at the bottom.

What is new for 2026

  • Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake: A Haunted Mansion Street Party. The Haunted Mansion-inspired replacement for the Frightfully Fun Parade, which is not returning this year. HAN’s Halloween Time at Disneyland hub has the full context, and SES has the most detailed public breakdown of the street party announcement.
  • Yzma joins the villain lineup. Teased July 14 in a Disneyland Instagram post featuring a purple potion and feather. This will be Yzma’s first face-character appearance at a U.S. Disney park. See our Yzma coverage for the announcement details.
  • A record 33 nights, up from 31 in 2025 and 27 in 2024, added via denser September and October scheduling.
  • The Headless Horseman becomes a standalone roaming experience. In prior years he opened each parade performance. In 2026, with the parade retired, he and Ichabod Crane roam Disney California Adventure at select times.

Prices held flat year over year at $139 to $199. Ticket sales opened June 18, eight days earlier than 2025.

Dates, hours, and how to get in

Party tickets include early mix-in entry to Disney California Adventure at 3 p.m., three hours before the party officially opens. No separate day ticket or park reservation is needed to use the mix-in.

Watch the 2026 experience

Here is HAN’s firsthand walkthrough from the 2026 event:

The villain treat trails

Oogie Boogie Bash’s core is a set of villain-hosted immersive walkthroughs that end in candy giveaways. The 2025 event ran 12 treat trails, nine with villains and three candy-only. With Yzma joining for 2026, at least one 2025 villain is expected to rotate out. The full 2026 villain roster and treat-trail count has not been announced.

2025 villain trails, likely returning as the 2026 baseline:

  • Oogie Boogie: Disney Animation Building, Hollywood Land (indoor)
  • Dr. Doofenshmirtz: Disney Theater, Hollywood Land (indoor)
  • Hades: Hollywood Backlot Stage
  • Judge Doom: Hollywood Land near Studio Catering Co.
  • Ernesto de la Cruz: Hyperion Theater courtyard
  • Agatha Harkness: Ancient Sanctum, Avengers Campus
  • Yokai: San Fransokyo Square
  • Syndrome: Pixar Pier (new 2025)
  • Maleficent: Grizzly Peak near Grizzly River Run (returned 2025)

Candy-only trails run in Cars Land, Buena Vista Street, and Paradise Gardens Park. Every treat trail offers allergy-friendly and no-sugar-added options via a dedicated cast member at each station, flagged on the Bash Guide Map and the Disneyland app.

Villains Grove

The self-guided Villains Grove walkthrough returns at Redwood Creek Challenge Trail in Grizzly Peak. It is an atmospheric ten-minute experience with projection mapping, fog, and sound design, not a scare maze. Scenes in 2025 evoked Frollo, Maleficent, the Queen of Hearts, Dr. Facilier, Scar, the Evil Queen from Snow White, and Dr. Facilier from The Princess and the Frog. No characters or candy inside. The Grove opens after dark, scheduled around 8 p.m. but sometimes as early as 7:15.

Meet-and-greets

Rare Disney character meet-and-greets are a Bash signature. The 2025 lineup included the Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus (Minnie, Daisy, and Clarabelle in costume, historically the longest line of the night, reported at two to three hours at peak), Kingdom Hearts (King Mickey, Goofy, Donald), Bruno from Encanto, Lotso from Toy Story 3, Hercules, and the Queen of Hearts with Tweedledee, Tweedledum, and the Cheshire Cat at the Carthay Circle fountain. The full 2026 meet-and-greet roster has not been published.

Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake

The new Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake: A Haunted Mansion Street Party is the entertainment centerpiece for 2026, replacing the Frightfully Fun Parade. Disney describes it as an “eerie-sistable ghost party” inspired by the Haunted Mansion and hosted by Madame Leota, with “multiple show-stopping moments” of séance, “ghostly dancing,” and “spirited characters.”

Concept art shows two floats, smaller in scale than the parade units. Disney has not published the route, number of showings per night, or specific showtimes. The retired parade ran twice nightly at approximately 7:45 p.m. and 10 p.m., and whether the street party keeps that rhythm is unconfirmed. First-night details will emerge from opening night August 18.

The retired parade

The Frightfully Fun Parade is not running in 2026. It debuted at Disneyland’s Mickey’s Halloween Party in 2016, moved to Disney California Adventure in 2019 for the inaugural Oogie Boogie Bash, and ran every year since, except 2020, when the parks were closed. The 2026 pause is tied to Coco attraction construction that blocks the west side of the parade route. A full-scale parade is not expected to return to Disney California Adventure until at least 2028.

Here is the 2025 parade for reference:

Rides and attractions during the party

Party tickets include access to select rides at Disney California Adventure with typically shorter waits, especially after 7 p.m. once daytime guests clear the park.

Halloween attraction overlays (also available in daytime Halloween Time, not exclusive to the Bash):

  • Guardians of the Galaxy, Monsters After Dark. Mission: BREAKOUT closes around 2 p.m. and reopens around 3 p.m. as the Halloween overlay.
  • Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween in Cars Land.
  • Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree in Cars Land.
  • Radiator Screams, Cars Land’s evening transformation with a nightly neon “Sha-BOO” moment.

Typically open during the party: Incredicoaster, Toy Story Midway Mania!, Monsters Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!, WEB SLINGERS, Soarin’, The Little Mermaid, and Radiator Springs Racers (which was down for refurbishment part of 2025, so verify 2026 status).

Lightning Lane access (Multi Pass, Premier Pass, Single Pass) is disabled during the event. Waits are the primary access mechanic.

Important: An Oogie Boogie Bash ticket admits guests to Disney California Adventure only. It does not include Disneyland Park, which means no Haunted Mansion Holiday, no Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy, no Halloween Screams fireworks, no Galaxy’s Edge. Guests who want both parks in one visit need a separate Disneyland ticket or a Park Hopper.

Food, merchandise, PhotoPass, Dessert Party, VIP Tour

Event PhotoPass is included. Unlimited digital photo downloads are captured between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m., accessed by scanning the wristband QR code in the Disneyland app.

Food and beverage in 2025 included Chili-Cheese Fries at Award Wieners ($13.49), Ube Hot Chocolate with Vanilla Vodka at Cozy Cone Motel ($16), Loaded Buffalo Chicken Fries at Flo’s V8 Café, and a Nightmare Before Christmas Mayor Sipper. Reviewer consensus in 2025 was to eat dinner during the 3-6 p.m. mix-in rather than during party hours. The 2026 menu has not been released.

Merchandise in 2025 included a Spirit Jersey ($79.99), a glow-in-the-dark Minnie ear headband with removable Oogie Boogie bow ($34.99), and event pins, sold at Elias & Co., Gone Hollywood, and Seaside Souvenirs on Buena Vista Street and Hollywood Land. In 2025, merchandise released early on August 17 to all park guests, not just party ticket holders. The 2026 line includes a new pullover hoodie and adult tee, per MiceChat.

Oogie Boogie Bash Dessert Party returns as an additional-cost add-on with preferred viewing for Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake and a curated selection of Nightmare Before Christmas-themed treats. The 2025 price was $94 per person, tax and gratuity included. Dessert Party does not include Bash admission. Guests need both tickets. Reservations for 2026 open closer to the season.

VIP Tour is available for dates starting August 30, 2026, for up to eight guests. It includes Park Hopper admission plus Bash tickets, a dedicated guide for up to nine hours, expedited attraction access, a VIP Lounge at Carthay Circle Restaurant with private street party viewing, complimentary valet at Disney’s Grand Californian, and exclusive VIP merchandise access. Booking is via (714) 300-7710. Price is not officially posted and is typically quoted at booking.

Arrival strategy

Line up 30 to 40 minutes before the 3 p.m. mix-in. Cast members sometimes admit early. Use 3 to 6 p.m. to eat dinner via mobile order, ride headliners, take daylight photos at pumpkin displays, and pick up the party wristband at an i
