The scheming co-ruler of Kuzco’s kingdom will be the newest villain guests can meet at the Disney California Adventure Halloween event this fall.
Anaheim, CA — Yzma, the villain from Disney’s 2000 animated film The Emperor’s New Groove, is joining the villain lineup for Oogie Boogie Bash at Disney California Adventure for the 2026 Halloween season. Disneyland teased the addition on July 14 in an Instagram post featuring a mysterious purple potion and the caption “the villain behind it has big plans for Oogie Boogie Bash.”
The purple potion is a callback to Yzma’s laboratory scenes in the film, where she and her assistant Kronk brew a concoction intended to turn Emperor Kuzco into a flea and then step on him. The plan famously goes wrong when Kronk grabs the wrong bottle and turns Kuzco into a llama instead.
Yzma’s first face-character appearance at a US Disney park
This will be Yzma’s first face-character appearance at a Disney park in the United States. The character has appeared previously in character meet-and-greet form at Disneyland Paris and in stage-show or parade contexts, but Disneyland Resort has never hosted her as a walkaround character before.
Oogie Boogie Bash builds its identity around rare Disney villain sightings. Recent additions have included Syndrome from The Incredibles, Judge Doom from Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Agatha Harkness from WandaVision, and Yokai from Big Hero 6. The event is where fans go to see villains who do not otherwise make regular Disney park appearances.
How Yzma will fit into the event
Disneyland has not detailed how Yzma will appear at Oogie Boogie Bash. The Bash’s villain roster is anchored by immersive treat trails, where each villain hosts a themed walkthrough with candy giveaways. Villains also make character-greeting appearances throughout the event and appear in event-exclusive photo opportunities.
The full 2026 Oogie Boogie Bash villain lineup has not been officially announced.

Oogie Boogie Bash runs 33 select nights from August 18 through October 31, 2026, at Disney California Adventure. Tickets are on sale at Disneyland.com with pricing from $139 to $199 depending on the date.
