Pure Terror Scream Park Is More Than a Mile of Haunted Houses, and It’s an Hour From NYC

Monroe, NY — Pure Terror Scream Park, a Hudson Valley haunt about 40 miles from New York City, holds the Guinness World Record for the longest walk-through horror attraction, and its 2026 season adds Gargoyle Den, a new haunt where a cemetery’s gargoyle statues come to life. Its 10 attractions are open select nights through November 1, from $49.98 plus tax and fees.

Is Pure Terror Scream Park Scary? The 10 Attractions

Pure Terror’s 10 attractions are at one location on NY-17M in Monroe, and about 90% of them are indoors. Pure Terror warns of loud audio, sudden sound effects, strobe lighting, complete darkness, fog, tight spaces, and uneven terrain.

• The Crypt: a skeleton-strewn crypt where vampires lunge from coffins, crawlspaces, and cracks in the stone.
• Bedlam State Asylum: a haunt themed as an asylum built in 1942 for the criminally insane and shut down after a string of gruesome deaths, where patients and deranged nurses still roam the halls.
• Psycho Circus: clowns hiding behind spinning tunnels, flickering lights, and neon hallways built to disorient you.
• Panic Attack Extreme: a pitch-black haunt with sudden loud noises, claustrophobic spaces, and disturbing smells. A bypass entrance lets you skip it and go on to the rest.
• Gargoyle Den (new for 2026): a walk through an abandoned graveyard and down into crumbling crypts, where the gargoyle statues placed to guard the cemetery start to shift and walk among you.
• Desecration: a haunt themed as a hundred-year-old cathedral, where possessed nuns and priests turn the confessional booths into cages.
• ScapeGrace High: a haunt themed as a school founded in 1947 and shut down after a fire, with locker-lined corridors, haunted classrooms, and a ghostly Principal Herbert.
• Legends of Horror: a hall of horror icons, including a pale-faced clown with a hacksaw, a burned madman with a bladed glove, a masked killer with a machete, and a Texas killer with a chainsaw.
• Pumpkin Alley: a walk through hand-carved jack-o’-lanterns, guarded by a towering Pumpkin King.
• Monster Courtyard: a photo area with larger-than-life monsters and horror icons.

Three attractions from 2025, Resurrection Cemetery, Terror in the Dark, and Woods of the Dead, are not on the 2026 list. Pure Terror also added a Scare Cam Photos add-on this year.

How Long Does Pure Terror Take?

Guests typically spend 60 to 90 minutes on all 10 attractions, depending on the night, the crowd, and how fast you walk, and the route covers more than a mile. Guinness World Records measured it at 1,933.72 meters, or 6,344 feet, on October 10, 2015, and certified it as the longest walk-through horror attraction. Erebus in Pontiac, Michigan, says it held a different Guinness record, for the largest walk-through haunted house, from 2005 through 2009.

There are no time slots. Gates open at 7 p.m., and you can arrive any time during open hours. Last entry is 15 minutes before close, and once you leave, you can’t come back in. Pure Terror recommends arriving 15 to 30 minutes before the 7 p.m. opening to avoid long waits.

Can the Actors Touch You at Pure Terror?

No. Pure Terror says its actors will never intentionally touch you, though they may get very close. Guests can’t touch the actors, the props, or other guests, and breaking a rule gets you removed without a refund. Emergency exits are located throughout the haunted houses for anyone too frightened to continue, but there’s no refund for leaving early.

How Much Is Pure Terror? Tickets and Prices

• General Admission, $49.98 to $59.98 plus tax and fees, depending on the night. It covers all 10 attractions and free parking.
• R.I.P. Pass, $79.98 to $94.98 plus tax and fees. It adds priority access, shorter waits, and a special R.I.P. Pass entrance. You can also upgrade a general admission ticket to R.I.P. at the box office for $35 the same night.
• Any Night Flex Pass, $19.98 on top of a general admission or R.I.P. ticket. It lets you use your ticket on any one other operating night of the 2026 season.

Tickets are dated, all sales are final, and they can’t be rescheduled without the Flex Pass. Online tickets are cheaper than the box office, and the box office takes cash only. If Pure Terror has to close for extreme weather, your ticket is good for any remaining night of the season.

Pure Terror doesn’t list a coupon code. It offers $5 off with a valid military ID, and $5 off per VIP ticket for groups of 40 or more who reserve at least a week ahead by email. Both discounts are cash only at the box office, and there are no discounted child tickets.

Pure Terror Age Limit, Rules, and Who Shouldn’t Go

• Ages. Pure Terror recommends it for ages 10 and up, and kids under 10 need a parent or guardian, who makes the final call. Children must walk on their own, and babies, strollers, and carriers aren’t allowed.
• Mobility. The park has steep inclines, uneven ground, and long self-guided walks, so canes, walkers, wheelchairs, medical boots, and leg casts aren’t permitted.
• Health. Pure Terror isn’t recommended for people with asthma, heart conditions, high blood pressure, seizures, claustrophobia, or anxiety disorders, or for pregnant guests. Pacemakers are prohibited.
• What to wear and bring. Costumes, masks, and face paint are banned, and so are purses and backpacks. Wear closed-toe shoes. Everyone goes through a metal detector.
• No photos inside. Phones and cameras can’t be used in the haunted houses, and anyone caught recording is removed without a refund. Photos are fine in the outdoor areas.
• Food. The Monster Midway sells carnival food, and no alcohol is sold or allowed.

Getting to Pure Terror From New York City

Pure Terror is at 1008 NY-17M in Monroe, about an hour from Manhattan. From the city, take I-87 North, the New York State Thruway, to Exit 16, then NY-17 West to Exit 129, Museum Village Road. Parking is free.
