Osaka, Japan — A popcorn bucket shaped like a Licker goes on sale at Universal Studios Japan on Wednesday, September 9, and the official product photo shows it mounted on two shoulder straps and hanging down the wearer’s back, brain exposed and tongue trailing toward the floor. Universal Studios Japan has not announced a price.

It is the park’s first Resident Evil popcorn bucket, released to mark two anniversaries at once: Halloween Horror Nights turning 15 at Universal Studios Japan, and the Resident Evil series turning 30. Those details come from the park’s announcement, reprinted in full by Famitsu and carried by GAME Watch.

The Head Opens

The head opens so guests can get at the popcorn, per Universal Studios Japan, and the sculpt runs down to the Licker’s long extended tongue and its sharp claws. The claw and tooth sections are made from a soft material, according to the release.

The popcorn inside is miso flavored. It is sold from the popcorn cart in front of Stage 22, and Universal Studios Japan says more original food tied to the collaboration is still to come.

The Raccoon City Police Department Line

The bucket is not the whole drop. Universal Studios Japan is also releasing a Raccoon City Police Department range under its narikiri banner, the Japanese merchandising category for dressing as the character rather than collecting the character.

Two pieces have been shown. There is a black short-sleeve shirt with an R.P.D. badge at the chest, which the park calls the newest entry in its popular narikiri shirt range. And there is a 3-WAY bag that converts between a waist pouch, a shoulder bag, and a chest bag, printed with the R.P.D. badge on the flap.

Both go on sale September 9 alongside the bucket, but from a different store: the Cinema 4-D Store, while the bucket comes from the Stage 22 popcorn cart. Buying the R.P.D. items requires showing your own same-day admission ticket or annual pass. Universal Studios Japan says more collaboration items are coming beyond these two.

Two Days Before the Maze

The bucket reaches the cart on September 9. Resident Evil Requiem: The Dive, the maze it ties to, does not open until September 11 and runs through December 27 at Stage 18. Halloween Horror Nights itself runs September 11 through November 8.

It is the second time in a week we have watched a Halloween souvenir reach a shelf ahead of the thing it references. Disney’s Starbucks pumpkin spice mug turned up at Disneyland this week, twenty days before the drink printed on it returns. So did Regal’s Lipstick-Face Demon popcorn bucket, which reaches select US theatres on August 19, two days ahead of the Insidious film it promotes.

Universal has not said whether the Licker bucket or any Resident Evil merchandise is headed to Halloween Horror Nights in Orlando or Hollywood, per Fantasy Land News.

For the rest of the season in Osaka, our Halloween Horror Nights Japan 2026 guide covers every maze, show, and ride overlay, including Zanzō, the event’s first R-18 attraction. Our Halloween Horror Nights hub tracks all Universal parks worldwide. Product details per Universal Studios Japan as of August 5, 2026, and subject to change without notice.
