About Midnight Syndicate
Midnight Syndicate is the duo of composers Edward Douglas and Gavin Goszka, who write instrumental horror and gothic fantasy music they describe as soundtracks to imaginary films, blending orchestral music with sound effects. Douglas put together the first Midnight Syndicate album in 1997, the band has released fifteen studio albums, and its newest, Plankett’s Grove, came out on August 21, 2026.
Haunted attractions, amusement parks and costume shops around the world play the band’s music during the Halloween season. Midnight Syndicate produced the first official soundtrack to the Dungeons & Dragons game with Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast in 2003, its music has been used at Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights, and its multimedia horror concert, Midnight Syndicate Live! Legacy of Shadows, debuted at Cedar Point’s HalloWeekends. Rue Morgue Magazine named its album Out of the Darkness one of its 50 Essential Horror Albums in 2015.
The band does not charge licensing fees for its music in haunted attractions and escape rooms. Each attraction that uses the music is asked to register, registered haunts receive a poster to display, and HAA members can ask about discounts. Midnight Syndicate exhibited at TransWorld’s Halloween & Attractions Show 2026 at Booth 1214.
