The Exorcist: Martyrs Trailer Is Out: Everything Blumhouse Announced at BlumFest, With 2027 Release Dates

New York, NY — The first trailer for The Exorcist: Martyrs, Mike Flanagan’s film with Chiwetel Ejiofor and Scarlett Johansson, debuted on Friday, October 9, at BlumFest, Blumhouse Atomic Monster’s panel at New York Comic Con. The panel also gave release dates for three 2027 films, named Craig Zobel as director of Something Is Killing the Children, and extended Paranormal Activity on Broadway through February 28, 2027.

Blumhouse Release Dates for 2026 and 2027

  • Other Mommy: released October 9, 2026. Rob Savage directed it.
  • River: in theaters January 15, 2027. Josh Giuliano’s thriller stars Jessica Rothe, Jane Levy, Max Mattern, and Dane DiLiegro.
  • Anything But Ghosts: May 7, 2027. Curry Barker directs, and he wrote it with his co-star, Cooper Tomlinson.
  • Molepeople: August 27, 2027, from Paramount. Rob Savage directs, and LaKeith Stanfield stars.
  • Paranormal Activity on Broadway: extended at the August Wilson Theatre through February 28, 2027.

The Exorcist: Martyrs

Mike Flanagan is writing and directing The Exorcist: Martyrs through his Red Room Pictures banner, and he presented the trailer at BlumFest with Chiwetel Ejiofor. Ejiofor stars with Scarlett Johansson, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, and John Leguizamo. Blumhouse Atomic Monster, Morgan Creek Entertainment, and Flanagan are producing the film. The announcement gives no release date for it.

LaKeith Stanfield Stars in Rob Savage’s Molepeople

Rob Savage brought LaKeith Stanfield, who was in Blumhouse’s Get Out, on stage to say he will star in Molepeople, which Nathan Elston wrote. Paramount Primal and Blumhouse Atomic Monster are producing it, and Paramount has set it for release on August 27, 2027.

Something Is Killing the Children Gets a Director

Craig Zobel is directing the film of Something Is Killing the Children, the horror comic created by James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera and first published by BOOM! Studios in 2019. Blumhouse is developing it as a live-action film and as an adult animated television series at the same time, and Tynion is overseeing the series. The announcement says the comic has sold more than 5 million copies worldwide. Zobel’s credits include The Hunt, Mare of Easttown, and The Penguin.

An Amanda the Adventurer Film and a Heidi Wong Short

MatPat, the panel’s host and the founder of YouTube’s “Theory” channels, will develop DreadXP’s indie video game Amanda the Adventurer into a Blumhouse feature film, Blumhouse founder Jason Blum announced, with Epic Pictures CEO Patrick Ewald as a producer. Blum also announced a short film deal with Heidi Wong, who posts horror storytelling as @itsheidiwong and will make a new horror short film for Blumhouse.

James Wan on Saw, Robocop, Seasons, and the Next Paranormal Activity

James Wan, whose company Atomic Monster merged with Blumhouse in January 2024, took questions about his return to the Saw franchise for its next film and about the new Robocop series for Prime Video, which stars Dan Stevens. He showed the room videos from director Drew Hancock and actor Ron Perlman on Seasons, which stars Lily James and Jack Reynor, and from director Ian Tuason on the next Paranormal Activity film.

River, Anything But Ghosts, and Other Mommy

Josh Giuliano appeared by video to show the River trailer to the room only, and Jessica Rothe answered questions on stage about the film, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.

Curry Barker and Cooper Tomlinson talked about Anything But Ghosts, Barker’s next film after Obsession. Rob Savage, whose Other Mommy came out the same day, offered the BlumFest audience a free New York screening that night.

Paranormal Activity on Broadway Runs Through February 28, 2027

BlumFest showed footage of the stage adaptation of Paranormal Activity and announced that its run at the August Wilson Theatre is extended through February 28, 2027. Five people in the audience won tickets.

Blumhouse in Haunts and Stores This Season

The Conjuring, one of the company’s franchises, is at four Six Flags parks this fall as The Conjuring: Beyond Fear. Blumhouse’s teen slasher The Last Kiss came to digital on September 15, and Cheetos made Blumhouse “Flavor of Fear” puffs. The announcement also says the company will transform an exhibit space at The Stanley Hotel.

BlumFest was on Friday, October 9, 2026, at New York Comic Con, and The Exorcist: Martyrs trailer is on Blumhouse’s YouTube channel.
