The Haunted Mansion’s Hatbox Ghost is becoming a popcorn bucket on both coasts. At Disneyland Resort, per Disney’s D23 Day announcement, the Haunted Mansion Hatbox Ghost Popcorn Bucket is “a new novelty available for purchase for a limited time beginning Aug. 13,” landing eight days before Halloween Time opens on August 21. And at Magic Kingdom, per WDW News Today, the Hatbox Ghost gets a companion: a new Headless Horseman bucket, both exclusive to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.

At Disneyland: August 13, Six Locations
The bucket sells at six locations across both parks. In Disneyland Park: Harbour Galley, Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree, Popcorn at Frontierland, and Popcorn at New Orleans. In Disney California Adventure: Popcorn at Grizzly Peak Airfield and Popcorn Near Carthay Circle Restaurant.
Per Disney, it is available while supplies last with a limit of two per person, per transaction, and no discounts apply. A price has not been posted.
Why August 13 in Anaheim
The launch date is D23 Day, the fan-club celebration returning to Disneyland Resort on August 13 with limited-run novelties across the resort, including a Sorcerer Apprentice Mickey cake pop landing the same day. Putting a Halloween novelty on a fan-event date, before the season itself starts, tracks with how this calendar has gone: Halloween Time runs August 21 through October 31, and the Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay marks its 25th year this season.
It also tracks with how buckets behave at retail. The Home Depot Halloween bucket and its $1.50 Petco cousin turned bucket-hunting into one of the summer’s recurring retail stories, and a limit-two, while-supplies-last Hatbox Ghost is built for the same chase. Cinemas are running the sculpted version of it: Regal’s Lipstick-Face Demon popcorn container lands at select locations on August 19.
At Magic Kingdom: Party Exclusives and Day Buckets
The Florida side runs through Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, which opens Friday, August 7 with eight of its 38 dates already sold out. Per WDW News Today, the Hatbox Ghost and Headless Horseman buckets will be available only during the party, at the popcorn carts near Cinderella Castle, with a limit of two per person, per transaction and limited quantities each night. Dread Central first flagged the Hatbox bucket’s Disneyland run.
Magic Kingdom guests without a party ticket still get Halloween novelties during the day, per the same report: a Halloween Pooh Sipper at the popcorn cart near Pinocchio Village Haus, and a Vampire Mickey Bucket at snack carts in Adventureland near Jungle Cruise, Liberty Square near Liberty Tree Tavern, Fantasyland at Maurice’s Popcorn near Gaston’s Tavern, and Frontierland near Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
Disney has not posted the Magic Kingdom buckets on its own channels yet, so treat those details as reported rather than listed.
