Virginia Haunted Houses 2026: Dates and Prices for Virginia Beach, Richmond, Northern Virginia, and Roanoke

Fifteen Virginia haunted attractions are open this October, from Virginia Beach to Roanoke, and Cox Farms Fields of Fear and Milltown Haunt in Northern Virginia run through November 7. This guide has 2026 dates and prices for each one, starting at $12 for Scaremare in Lynchburg, plus what is new at Busch Gardens Howl-O-Scream and Kings Dominion Halloween Haunt.

Virginia Beach and Williamsburg Haunted Houses

Haunted Hunt Club Farm

Haunted Hunt Club Farm, at 2388 London Bridge Road in Virginia Beach, is open October 9 to 11, 14 to 18, 21 to 25, and 28 to 31, and a $40 wristband is good for unlimited trips through its four haunted attractions until closing.

  • The haunts: the Haunted Hayride, Death Alley, Forbidden Fields, and Village of the Dead.
  • Hours: 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. on other nights. The box office closes at 9:30 p.m.
  • Tickets: $40 for general admission, with parking included. Virginia Beach’s 10% admission tax is extra. A VIP pass, which goes to the front of each line once, adds $15, or $25 on Saturdays.
  • Ages: children 14 and under need an adult with them.
  • Recognition: the farm is on the Haunted Attraction Association’s list of Top Haunts, which is in my Top Haunts guide.

Nightmare Mansion

Nightmare Mansion, a walk-through haunted house at 2008 Atlantic Avenue on Virginia Beach’s resort strip, has been open since 1989 and lists admission at $16 at the door, taxes and fees included.

  • Hours: doors open at 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. The haunt’s site says closing times vary with the crowd.
  • Time: 8 to 10 minutes on average.
  • Ages: the site says the haunt is designed for adults and is not recommended for children, and guests must be at least 41 inches tall.

Busch Gardens Howl-O-Scream

Howl-O-Scream at Busch Gardens Williamsburg runs select nights from September 11 through November 1, starts at 6 p.m., and is included with park admission.

  • What is there: five haunted houses, five scare zones the park calls Terror-Tories, and four shows, with 10 roller coasters running at night.
  • New in 2026: Anaconda: Dead on Arrival, a house licensed from Sony Pictures, and Fright at the Museum, a house themed to an archaeological dig.
  • Good to know: costumes are not allowed, and the park says the event may not be suitable for young children.
  • Details: every house, Terror-Tory, and show is in my Howl-O-Scream Williamsburg guide.

Candlelight: Halloween Classics, a 60-minute string quartet concert of Halloween music, is at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Portsmouth for ages 8 and up, with dates on the ticket page.

Richmond Haunted Houses

Kings Dominion Halloween Haunt

Kings Dominion Halloween Haunt, in Doswell, runs select nights from September 18 through November 1 with six haunted mazes, five scare zones, and five shows.

  • New in 2026: Diablo: The Infernal Path, a maze based on Blizzard’s Diablo video games, which opened September 25 and which I covered in my Diablo maze article.
  • Tickets: the mazes need a Haunted Attractions Pass, from $10 for one night on top of admission, or a package with admission from $55. Scare zones and shows are included with admission.
  • Ages: the park does not recommend the event for children under 13.
  • Details: every maze, scare zone, and show is in my Kings Dominion Halloween Haunt guide.

Red Vein Haunt

Red Vein Haunt, at Hanover Vegetable Farm, 13580 Ashland Road in Ashland, is open October 9 to 11, 16 to 18, 23 to 25, 30, and 31, and this year’s show is called Cursed Beneath.

  • What is there: four haunted attractions on one ticket, indoors and outdoors. The haunt has been open since 2016.
  • Tickets on October 9: $29.99 for general admission with a 30-minute entry window, $49.99 for a Fast Pass, and $74.99 for VIP, before fees. VIP is limited to 500 tickets for the season and is sold online only.
  • No-scare night: Thursday, October 15, is No Slaughter Night, with the lights and sound on and no actors. The haunt says the sets may still be too graphic for children under 13.
  • Groups: no more than six people go through together.

Creepy Hollow Scream Park

Creepy Hollow Scream Park, at 14437 Stone Horse Creek Road in Glen Allen, has four haunts on two trails and is open October 9, 10, 16 to 18, 23 to 25, and 29 to 31.

  • The haunts: Scream Forest is the first trail. Nightmare Labs, Farrington Asylum, and Axl’s Dark Carnival are on the second, and a midway with a bonfire sits between them.
  • Tickets: $29 online plus a $1.95 fee, good any night the park is open, or $39 with a Speed Pass. The ticket booth on site takes cash only.
  • Hours: gates open at 7 p.m. and the haunts start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are sold until 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and until 10 p.m. on Thursdays and Sundays.

Candlelight: A Haunted Evening of Halloween Classics, a 60-minute string quartet concert, is at Bolling Haxall House in Richmond for ages 8 and up, with dates on the ticket page.

Northern Virginia Haunted Houses

Cox Farms Fields of Fear

Fields of Fear at Cox Farms in Centreville is open Friday and Saturday nights through November 7, plus Sunday, October 11, from 7:30 to 11 p.m., with last entry at 10 p.m.

  • What is there: the Dark Side Hayride, the Cornightmare haunted trail, and The Forest, a walk of more than half a mile through the woods. The Firegrounds has bonfires, a dance floor, karaoke, and a six-lane slide.
  • Tickets: $45 from October 9 through Halloween and $40 on November 6 and 7. Tickets are sold online only, and the farm says they will sell out. One ticket covers the Firegrounds and one trip through each of the three haunts.
  • Entry times: each haunt runs on timed entry, and times are assigned at check-in in the order guests arrive, so the farm recommends arriving by 7 p.m.
  • Ages: the farm does not recommend Fields of Fear for children under 12, and anyone under 14 needs an adult chaperone.
  • Daytime: the Fall Festival is a separate ticket, and the grounds close between 6 and 7:30 p.m.

Workhouse Haunt: Dark Encounters

Workhouse Haunt, an outdoor haunted trail at the Workhouse Arts Center, 9518 Workhouse Way in Lorton, is open October 9 to 11, 16 to 18, 23 to 25, and 30. This year’s story, Dark Encounters, follows five friends who vanished on a 1996 road trip through rural Virginia and the camcorder tape they left behind.

  • Tickets: $35, sold by timed entry, and good for repeat trips on the trail for an hour. A Slasher Pass, which skips the line, is $10 more.
  • New in 2026: an after-dark flashlight tour of the cell block and grounds with the Lorton Prison Museum, sold at the Guest Services Booth on site. The arts center is a former prison.
  • Sensory-friendly hour: October 17 from 6 to 7 p.m., with the strobes off and the sound turned down.
  • Hours and ages: the box office closes at 9:50 p.m. and the trail closes at 10:30 p.m. The haunt does not recommend the trail for children under 13, and costumes and full-face masks are not allowed.

Milltown Haunt

Milltown Haunt, on a working farm at 13936 Milltown Road in Lovettsville, is open on select nights through November 7 with three haunted attractions and a farm midway.

  • The haunts: Thorne House and Barn of Fears, Tricksters Hollow, and The Void.
  • Hours: the midway opens at 6 p.m. and the haunts at 7 p.m. They run until 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 10 p.m. on Sundays, and the ticket booth closes an hour before that.
  • Tickets: $40 for general admission, $55 for R.I.P. admission, which skips the lines, and $5 for the midway alone. Kids 10 and under are free on the midway.
  • November nights: Extreme Night on Friday, November 6, is for ages 18 and up, and Blackout Night on Saturday, November 7, sends guests through with one glow stick. Each is $50. Tony Moran of Halloween and Nancy Anne Ridder of Scream appear both nights.
  • Ages: children under 16 need a parent on site.
  • Awards: Milltown Haunt won a Board of Directors Award at the 2026 OSCARES and is on the Haunted Attraction Association’s list of Top Haunts. Founders Sarah and GG Gregg started building it in 2023 on nearly 13 acres of farmland.

Fredericksburg: Halls of Hysteria

Halls of Hysteria, in its 8th year at the Fredericksburg Convention Center, 2371 Carl D. Silver Parkway, is open Fridays and Saturdays from October 16 through October 31, with entry times from 6 to 10 p.m.

  • Tickets: from $25. The time on a ticket is the recommended arrival time.
  • Ages: 13 and older.
  • Parking: free on site.

Shenandoah Valley Haunted Houses

Fear Forest

Fear Forest, at 6340 Oak Shade Road in Harrisonburg, is in its 21st season and is open every Friday and Saturday in October from 7 to 11 p.m., plus October 22, 28, and 29 from 7 to 10 p.m.

  • What is there: three attractions, reached by a hay wagon from the parking lot. Fear Forest is a woods trail four tenths of a mile long, and the other two are Fear Crops and Fear Factory.
  • Tickets: $35 for all three, or $55 for VIP, which skips the line. Tickets are cash only at the booth on site, and there is an ATM.
  • No Fear Nights: October 14 and 21 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., with no actors and the animatronics off, for $15 cash.
  • Deals: $30 with a canned food donation on October 22, and $5 off for first responders, military, and teachers with ID on October 29.
  • Ages: children under 12 are welcome but not recommended, the haunt says.

DarkWood Manor

DarkWood Manor, at 104 Lancaster Lane in Luray, is open October 9 to 11, 16 to 18, 22 to 25, and 29 to 31. This year’s show is Mr. Hyve’s Midnight Masquerade, in which a host named Mr. Hyve leads guests through a dream world of masked strangers.

  • Also on the ticket: Doctor Brain’s 3D Mind Maze.
  • Tickets: from $20 for both attractions, sold online only for a set date and time.
  • Hours: 7 to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 7 to 10 p.m. on Thursdays and Sundays.
  • Blackout Night: November 1, when guests go through in the dark with a glow stick.

Roanoke and Lynchburg Haunted Houses

Terror Manor

Terror Manor, at 805 Norfolk Avenue SW in Roanoke, has more than 40 rooms and is open Fridays and Saturdays through October 31.

  • Tickets: $30 for general admission, $40 for a Line Jump ticket, and $50 for an Unlimited pass, which is good for repeat trips on one night and includes one line jump. A ticket is good on any night the haunt is open.
  • Blackout: November 6 and 7, with the lights out.
  • Later this year: Santa’s Slaying runs December 11 to 19.
  • Ages: children under 16 need a parent on site.
  • Recognition: Terror Manor is on the Haunted Attraction Association’s list of Top Haunts.

Hexed Haunted Attraction

Hexed Haunted Attraction, at 2059 Burkette Road in Elliston, is open Fridays and Saturdays through October 31 from 7 to 10:30 p.m.

  • What is there: one ticket covers the attractions on the haunt’s event page: Scarecrow’s Harvest, The Witch House, Manner’s Meats, 1984: All Hallow’s Eve, Hexed Penitentiary, and the Freakshow.
  • Tickets on October 9: $30 for general admission and $40 for VIP, before fees. Groups of 10 or more pay $25 each when they buy online at least six hours ahead.
  • Parking: $10, cash only.
  • Weather: if the haunt closes for weather, a ticket is good on another open night this season. It closed for rain on October 3.

Scaremare

Scaremare, the haunted house Liberty University students have run since 1972, is at 2300 Carroll Avenue in Lynchburg and is open October 9 and 10, 16 and 17, 22 to 24, and 29 and 30.

  • What it is: a 40-minute walk through trails, woods, and a house of death scenes that ends with a Christian message, according to the university.
  • Tickets: $12 a person, cash only, at the gate. Military members and college students with ID pay $5 on Thursdays.
  • Hours: it opens at about 7:30 p.m., and anyone in line by 11 p.m. gets in.
  • Good to know: bags are not allowed, guests go through metal detectors, and the university advises against bringing children under 13.
