Spirit Halloween’s $499.99 life-size Freddy Fazbear animatronic is coming to Spirit Christmas stores, after turning up at Hot Topic this month. Spirit Christmas posted his box wrapped in a red bow on Sunday, October 18, with the line “Holiday Surprise. Night 1 starts Monday,” and five of its 43 stores are already open.
Freddy at Spirit Christmas
Spirit Christmas, Spirit Halloween’s holiday chain, posted a six-second video of Freddy’s box wrapped in a red ribbon on Instagram on Sunday, October 18, with the caption “Santa’s bringing something a little different to Spirit Christmas stores this year. Holiday Surprise. Night 1 starts Monday.”
Night 1 starts Monday, October 19, and Spirit Christmas hasn’t said what it is, which of its stores will carry Freddy, how many, or his price there. As of October 19, Spirit’s Freddy page still calls him “available exclusively at Spirit Halloween” and doesn’t mention Spirit Christmas or Hot Topic.
Five Spirit Christmas stores opened October 14 and 15: Mays Landing, Marlton and Riverdale in New Jersey, Youngstown in Ohio, and Winter Garden in Florida. The other 38 open November 6, and every store is listed in my Spirit Christmas locations guide. The rest of Spirit Christmas’s animatronics are in my Spirit Christmas animatronics guide.
Freddy at Hot Topic
Since the second week of October, shoppers have posted photos and videos of Spirit’s life-size Freddy inside Hot Topic stores, and I’ve checked their in-store photos. Spencer Spirit Holdings, which owns Spirit Halloween and Spencer’s, closed its purchase of Hot Topic, BoxLunch and Her Universe on September 2, so the two chains now share an owner, though Hot Topic still runs independently.
No store list or Hot Topic price for Freddy has been posted by either company, and Hot Topic’s website doesn’t sell him: a search for the animatronic on October 16 turned up two Five Nights at Freddy’s costumes and a mask. Call your local Hot Topic before you go.
What the Freddy Fazbear Animatronic Does
Freddy is the bear from Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNAF), and Spirit’s version is life-size. Per Spirit’s feature list, a servo motor waves his arm, one arm lifts a microphone, his body sways side to side on an inner spring, and his LED digital eyes light up with moving pupils. He plays video game-inspired audio, and Spirit lists him at “6 ft. 6 in. at tallest point.”
How to Buy One
Freddy is sold in stores only, at Spirit Halloween and some Hot Topic stores, and Spirit Christmas says he is coming to its stores. There is no product page and no shipping option on spirithalloween.com, and a search for the animatronic lands on a Freddy page with a store locator where the add-to-cart button would normally be. That page calls him “available exclusively at Spirit Halloween” and says “Inventory is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.” It now also links to Spirit’s Five Nights at Freddy’s shop, but the animatronic itself still isn’t sold online.
The $499.99 price comes from in-store signage at Spirit’s flagship store, which opened August 1 in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey. Spirit’s store locator is the way to find a store near you.
Restocks Depend on Spirit’s Vendor
Asked about more units, Spirit Halloween said on X on August 6: “We are actively evaluating whether additional inventory may become available. However any future restocks depend on production and logistics with our vendor so we are unable to guarantee that more units will be received at this time.”
As of October 19, its Freddy page still reads “Limited quantity available in select stores only,” with no restock notice either way. Spirit did not use the words sold out in August, and it gave no date, quantity, or store list.
What Freddy Resold For at Launch
In the first days after the flagship opened, at least ten Freddy animatronics sold on eBay on August 3 and 4, most between $2,500 and $3,800 plus shipping, with several clustered at $3,200 to $3,500. That’s six to seven times the $499.99 store price. Examples from that first week:
– Listed August 3: an “IN HAND” Freddy asking $3,650 or best offer plus $300 freight, with 74 people watching and 10 active offers.
– Sold August 4: $3,800 or best offer plus $300 delivery, new in box.
– Sold August 4: $3,500 or best offer plus $350 delivery, new in box.
– Sold August 4: $2,299 Buy It Now with free delivery.
– Sold August 4: $1,100 or best offer plus $300 delivery, the low outlier.
Two of the ten sales show a struck-through list price with a best offer accepted, at $3,350 and $3,500, and eBay hides the accepted amount on those, so their true prices ran lower. On Mercari, the life-size Freddy wasn’t listed at all on August 3. The closest item was a 7-inch display replica for $50.
Getting Freddy Home
Freddy’s box is 2 feet 8 inches wide, about 2 feet deep, 4 feet 8 inches tall, and 55 pounds, per Spirit. The retailer suggests an SUV, minivan, pickup truck, large crossover, or station wagon with fold-flat seats, and says to “Bring a second person to help with lifting, carrying, loading and unloading.”
Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza and Halloween Horror Nights
Universal ran a Five Nights at Freddy’s haunted house at Halloween Horror Nights in 2025, at both Universal Orlando and Universal Studios Hollywood, based on the 2023 Blumhouse film and the games, Spectrum News reported when it was announced. Next up, American Dream in East Rutherford, New Jersey, is opening a permanent Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza restaurant in 2027.
