Spirit Halloween 2026 store opening guide featured image

The short answer: Spirit Halloween’s flagship store opens Saturday, August 1, 2026 in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. General pop-up stores open on a rolling schedule through August, and the first pop-ups are already open as of August 3, with the majority following mid-to-late August, and the full 2026 collection is already previewable on Spirit’s site. Spirit says it is opening 1,575 stores across the US and Canada this year, a record for the retailer, and has hired 52,000 seasonal workers to run them (our guide to working at Spirit Halloween covers pay, ages, and how to apply).

Below is where the season stands, plus how to find your local Spirit Halloween’s opening date.

The flagship grand opening: August 1, 2026

Spirit’s flagship store at 6725 Black Horse Pike, Harbor Square, Egg Harbor Township, NJ kicks off the season on Saturday, August 1. The grand-opening celebration returns after a one-year hiatus, and it’s free and open to the public.

The day-of schedule:

  • 7:00 a.m. — Registered attendee check-in opens.
  • 8:00 a.m. — General admission check-in opens.
  • 8:30 a.m. – noon — Outdoor festivities: games, prizes, entertainment, food and beverages from local vendors.
  • 10:00 a.m. — Ribbon-cutting ceremony. Store officially opens.
  • 8:00 p.m. — Store closes.

The event runs rain or shine. On-site restrooms and hydration stations are open from 7 a.m. New this year: a Digital Registration System lets fans reserve a spot in line to be among the first inside once the ribbon is cut. When do general Spirit Halloween pop-up stores open?

Beyond the flagship, Spirit’s individual pop-up locations open on a staggered schedule from mid-to-late August through early September. Exact local dates depend on when the store’s lease is finalized and when the Zombie Tech Squad has finished setting up the animatronics inside. In practice:

  • Early-to-mid August: the earliest stores start opening, often in high-traffic markets and mall locations.
  • Mid-to-late August: the majority of the 1,575 locations come online.
  • Early September: the last few stores round out the map, plus in-mall pop-ups timed to back-to-school and September Halloween foot traffic.

Do all Spirit Halloween stores open August 1?

No. August 1 was the grand opening of the flagship store in Egg Harbor Township, NJ only, and the rest of the roughly 1,575 stores open on a rolling schedule through August into early September. The earliest pop-ups are already open, and your store’s locator page flips to live hours the day it starts trading.

How to find your Spirit Halloween’s opening date

Spirit’s store locator is now live at stores.spirithalloween.com. Enter a ZIP code to find the nearest locations and their addresses.

What it does not give you is a date. Every listing carries a status instead of a day. We reviewed all 1,299 locations listed on July 29: 1,072 are marked “Opens August,” 221 are “Coming Soon,” and six are “Opens September.” Not one shows a specific opening day.

The hours are placeholders too. Every store currently shows the same pattern, closed Tuesday through Friday and open Sunday, Monday and Saturday, which is a pre-opening default rather than real trading hours. Both the dates and the hours should firm up as stores open through August.

The locator is also still filling in. Spirit says 1,575 stores this season, and 1,299 were listed on July 29, so expect the map to keep adding locations.

If you have a favorite Spirit Halloween that’s returned to the same shopping center for multiple years running, that location is a reasonable bet. Confirm with the locator once it’s live before making a trip.
