Kids’ Halloween Movies 2026: Where to Watch Hocus Pocus, Coraline, the Great Pumpkin, and More

Kids’ Halloween movies are split across services this October: Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown, and The Nightmare Before Christmas are on Disney+, Coraline is on Hulu, Casper airs on Freeform, and It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown streams free on Apple TV on October 17 and 18. New this year are a Spidey and the Avengers Halloween special on Disney+ and a second Pumpkinhead movie, free on Tubi from October 9.

Freeform lists its times as Eastern and Pacific, and each date in the table is the movie’s next airing from October 5 on. Hocus Pocus has 17 airings left on Freeform through October 31, and Casper has 14.

It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown: Free on October 17 and 18

It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown streams free on Apple TV on Saturday, October 17, and Sunday, October 18. The Peanuts special is from 1966, runs 25 minutes, and has its 60th anniversary this year. On other days it is on Apple TV, which costs $14.99 a month after a 7-day free trial.

Starbucks timed its 10-piece Peanuts collection to the anniversary, and Duncan Hines sells a Great Pumpkin Bundt Cake and Glaze Mix.

Kids’ Halloween Movies on Disney+ and Hulu

Disney+ publishes a list of 23 Halloween movies and shows for families, last revised on October 1, and prints a rating beside each one. The movies and specials on it:

  • Hocus Pocus (PG) and Hocus Pocus 2 (PG)
  • Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas (PG)
  • Frankenweenie (PG)
  • The Haunted Mansion from 2003 (PG)
  • Muppets Haunted Mansion (TV-PG)
  • Toy Story of Terror! (TV-G)
  • Halloweentown, Twitches, and Mom’s Got a Date with a Vampire (all TV-PG)
  • Under Wraps 2 and ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires (both TV-G)
  • Coraline (PG), which is on Hulu

Hulu has Coraline, Casper, Hotel Transylvania, and Hotel Transylvania 2, all rated PG. Disney+ calls Coraline one of the stronger scares on its list.

St. Helens, Oregon, where Disney Channel filmed Halloweentown, holds its Spirit of Halloweentown festival every weekend through November 1, and three of the movie’s cast members are there for a reunion on October 17 and 18. In Salem, Massachusetts, a walking tour of five Hocus Pocus filming locations runs 2 hours 15 minutes. It covers about 3 miles at a fast pace, and the route does not take strollers. The Hotel Transylvania characters are at SeaWorld Orlando’s Spooktacular this fall.

Kids’ Halloween Movies on Netflix

Netflix’s list of family Halloween picks has 18 titles, and all 18 were on Netflix in the United States on October 4. By rating:

  • TV-Y: Sing: Thriller, a 14-minute short
  • TV-Y7: Chickenhare and the Hamster of Darkness
  • TV-G: The Worst Witch, Scaredy Cats, I Woke Up A Vampire, and the 1995 Goosebumps series
  • PG: KPop Demon Hunters
  • TV-PG: A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting, Nightbooks, and A Series of Unfortunate Events
  • PG-13: Hubie Halloween, We Have a Ghost, Wendell & Wild, Mr. Harrigan’s Phone, and The School for Good and Evil
  • TV-14: Wednesday, The Curse of Bridge Hollow, and Troll

The Addams Family and Hotel Transylvania were not on Netflix in the United States on October 4. Spirit Halloween sells the official KPop Demon Hunters costumes.

Kids’ Halloween Movies on HBO Max

HBO Max’s Halloween page has a row named Family-Friendly Scares, with Beetlejuice (PG), Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride (PG), Scooby-Doo from 2002 (PG), and the first two Harry Potter movies (both PG). The same row also holds Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and Practical Magic, both rated PG-13, and two R-rated movies, Interview with the Vampire and Trick ‘r Treat.

New Kids’ Halloween Movies and Specials in 2026

  • Spidey and the Avengers: Halloween Team-Up! (Disney+, TV-G): a Marvel preschool special that teams up the casts of Spidey and His Amazing Friends and Iron Man and His Awesome Friends. It has been on Disney+ since September 25.
  • Vampirina: Teenage Vampire, season 2 (Disney Channel and Disney+, TV-G): the season returns October 6 on Disney Channel, and the full season streams the next day on Disney+.
  • Descendants: Wicked Wonderland (Disney+, TV-G): a musical fantasy adventure that Disney+ lists with its new Halloween picks.
  • Mickey Mouse Clubhouse+ (Disney+, TV-Y): season 2 includes a Halloween episode, “The Haunted Halloween Hunt.”
  • R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead 2 (Tubi, free, October 9): a sequel to the 2025 Tubi movie, based on a story by R.L. Stine, with Cassandra Peterson, who plays Elvira, as a witch named Cassandra. I covered it in my Pumpkinhead 2 article.
  • Coven Academy (Freeform, Disney+, and Hulu, TV-PG-V): Freeform’s new supernatural teen drama premiered October 1 on Freeform and October 2 on Disney+ and Hulu. Disney+ lists it with its new family picks, and my Coven Academy guide covers the cast.

The Nightmare Before Christmas in Theaters

The Nightmare Before Christmas returned to AMC and Regal theaters on October 2, and Harkins opens it on October 23. It runs 1 hour 16 minutes and is rated PG. AMC sells a light-up Jack Skellington popcorn bucket with it, which I cover in my Nightmare Before Christmas popcorn bucket article.

Kids’ Halloween Movies on TV: Freeform’s 31 Nights of Halloween

Freeform’s 31 Nights of Halloween runs every day through October 31. From October 5 on, Hocus Pocus airs 17 more times, Casper airs 14 more times, and The Nightmare Before Christmas, Beetlejuice, Scooby-Doo, and The Addams Family each air 6 more times. Toy Story of Terror! airs 4 more times and Frankenweenie airs 3.

On Saturday, October 10, Freeform airs Frankenweenie at 7:00 a.m., Toy Story of Terror! at 9:00 a.m., Spooky Buddies at 9:30 a.m., Scooby-Doo at 11:35 a.m., Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed at 1:35 p.m., and The Nightmare Before Christmas at 5:45 p.m.

On Halloween, Saturday, October 31, the lineup is Casper at 8:30 a.m., The Haunted Mansion at 11:00 a.m., Hocus Pocus at 1:00 p.m., The Nightmare Before Christmas at 3:10 p.m., Casper at 4:50 p.m., Hocus Pocus at 7:20 p.m., and Hocus Pocus 2 at 9:30 p.m. Every night is in my Freeform 31 Nights of Halloween schedule.

  • TV-Y and TV-G: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse+, Sing: Thriller, Spidey and the Avengers: Halloween Team-Up!, Toy Story of Terror!, Vampirina: Teenage Vampire, Under Wraps 2, The Worst Witch, and Scaredy Cats.
  • PG and TV-PG: Hocus Pocus, Hocus Pocus 2, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Frankenweenie, Coraline, Casper, Hotel Transylvania, KPop Demon Hunters, Halloweentown, Twitches, and Muppets Haunted Mansion.
  • PG-13 and TV-14: The Addams Family from 1991, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Hubie Halloween, and Wednesday. Disney+ puts Goosebumps (TV-14), Agatha All Along (TV-14), and the 2023 Haunted Mansion (PG-13) in a section for older kids and teens.

The 1995 Goosebumps series on Netflix is rated TV-G, and the Goosebumps series on Disney+ is rated TV-14.
