From Jessica Lange’s return in American Horror Story: 13 to Mike Flanagan’s take on Carrie, the new horror hitting streaming this Halloween is stacked. This guide rounds up every new movie and series, where to watch it, and when, across HBO Max, Prime Video, Hulu, Freeform, Discovery, and Tubi. New Horror Movies to Stream
- The Last Kiss (digital, September 15): Blumhouse Atomic Monster’s teen slasher, starring Mckenna Grace as a girl cursed to see how anyone she kisses will die. - The Backrooms (HBO Max, September 25): A24’s feature take on the online horror phenomenon makes its streaming debut. The film brings the endless maze of empty yellow rooms, and the dread of being lost in them, to the screen, and it arrives as A24’s highest-grossing film to date. Read our full coverage.
- R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead 2 (Tubi, October 9): a family-friendly Tubi original based on a story by R.L. Stine, with Cassandra Peterson (Elvira) as a witch named Cassandra. A new Pumpkinhead curse awakens in the town of Redhaven, and it streams free and ad-supported as part of Terror on Tubi. It follows the 2025 Tubi hit R.L. New and Returning Horror Series
- American Horror Story: 13 (FX, September 24, then Hulu the next day): the anthology drops its standalone-season format to bring back Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, and the Coven witches for a season built on the number 13. It runs 13 half-hour episodes through a finale on October 29. Read our full coverage.
- Ghost Adventures (Discovery Channel, September 30, then discovery+ and HBO Max the next day): Zak Bagans, Aaron Goodwin, Jay Wasley, and Billy Tolley return for a new season, investigating locations with violent histories, from a Las Vegas warehouse to an Oregon home the team describes as some of the darkest places they have faced.
- Coven Academy (Freeform, October 1, then Disney+, Hulu, and Freeform on Demand the next day): Freeform’s new supernatural teen drama set at a school for young witches. The full season lands the day after the premiere, so you can stream it all at once. Read our full coverage.
- Carrie (Prime Video, October 7): Mike Flanagan’s eight-episode reimagining of Stephen King’s novel, the first time Carrie has been told as a series. Flanagan, of The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass, updates the story for the social-media age, and all eight episodes drop at once. Read our full coverage.
- IT: Welcome to Derry (HBO Max, October 26): the IT prequel series starring Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise, set in 1962 and rolling out weekly across nine episodes. Free Halloween Streaming
If you would rather not add a subscription, Tubi’s Terror on Tubi lineup runs through October with free, ad-supported horror, including the new R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead 2. It is one of the easiest no-cost ways to get in the Halloween mood, and it is a good fit for families looking for scares that stay on the lighter side.
When to Watch, by Date
The season’s premieres come in a steady run through the second half of September and into October. The Last Kiss led off on September 15, followed by American Horror Story: 13 on September 24, The Backrooms on September 25, Ghost Adventures on September 30, Coven Academy on October 1, Carrie on October 7, Pumpkinhead 2 on October 9, and IT: Welcome to Derry on October 26. That gives most weekends of the season at least one new title to stream, right up to Halloween night.
